Migration, Settlement and Return in Van as a Regional Destination Center

Abstract

Göç, grupların ve bireylerin mekânsal açıdan bulundukları noktadan başka bir noktaya hareket etmesi ve yer değiştirmesidir. Bahsedilen yer değiştirme, kültürel, siyasal, sosyal ve ekonomik koşullardan etkilenmekte, bu koşulların oluşturduğu bağlam da bireylerin yer değiştirme hareketlerini itici bir güç olarak etkilemektedir. Toplumsal yaşam pratikleri ve yapıları benzer olan bireyler kendilerine özgü bir yaşam tarzı oluşturmaktadır. Ancak göç hareketleri ile bu yaşam pratikleri değişim ve dönüşüm sürecine girebilir. İçinde yaşanılan sosyal, iktisadi koşullar ve geleceğe dair beklentiler göçün belirleyicisi olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bir yerden bir yere yerleşmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilen göç hareketleri, sadece mekânsal anlamda bir değişim değil aynı zamanda bu sosyal-kültürel çevrenin de değişmesi anlamına gelmektedir. Göç, sadece seçilen varış yerinin çekici koşulları tarafından değil aynı zamanda bu yerin yönü ve mesafesi tarafından da belirlenir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'nin Doğu Anadolu Bölgesinde, İran sınırında yer alan Van şehrinin maruz kaldığı göç hareketlerini incelemektedir. Şehir, çevre illere ve kendi kırsalına sunduğu imkanlar ile sadece nihai bir varış noktası teşkil etmemekte, birçok göçmen için daha uzun mesafeli göçlere hazırlanılan bir toplanma merkezi, bir istasyon şehir özelliği de sunmaktadır. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde araştırmanın kavramsal ve metodolojik çerçevesi sunulmuştur. Bu bölümde göç kuramları göç hareketlerine genel bakış ile ilgili fikir ve görüşler sunulurken, araştırmada kullanılan metod teknikler de açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde alan araştırmasından elde edilen veriler spss programı aracılığıyla analiz edilerek tablolaştırılmış, raporlaştırılmış ve yorumlanmıştır. Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise araştırmada elde edilen bulguların ve literatüre sağladığı katkının genel bir değerlendirmesi sunulmaktadır. Ayrıca göç etme düşüncesi olan kişilerin göç edilecek mekanların sosyal ve ekonomik koşulları ile ilgili sahip oldukları tutuma dair görüşler mevcuttur. Migration is the movement and/or displacement of groups and individuals from one point to another in terms of spatial location. Displacement is affected by cultural, political, social and economic conditions. The context created by these conditions also affects the displacement of individuals as a driving force. Individuals with similar social life backgrounds create a unique lifestyle. However, with migration, these life practices can enter the process of change and transformation which determines the migrant's social and economic conditions and expectations. migration. In other words, migration does not only mean a spatial change, but also a change in the social-cultural environment determined by the attractive conditions of destination, direction and distance. This study is conducted in Van, a city located in the eastern part of Türkiye bordering with Iran. The city does not only constitute a final destination with the opportunities it offers to the surrounding provinces and its own countryside, but also offers a collection centre and a station city feature for many immigrants to prepare for long distance migrations.The first part of the study offers a conceptual and methodological framework. It deals with migration theories, concepts, methods and techniques used in migration studies. The second part devoted to the data collections from the field, their analysis and tabulation, interpretation and report. In the third and final part, an overall evaluation of research is provided with special referance to its contribution to the research fields related literatures prediction about the structural changes that may occur in the next period.
