The Motive of Princes Fallling in Love Seeing the Picture in Mesnevis

Abstract

Dîvân edebiyatı geleneğinde birçok motif kullanılmıştır. Bu motiflerden biri de ?Şehzâdelerin Resmi Görüp Âşık Olma Motifi?dir. Söz konusu gelenek dâhilinde resmi gören karakterler ya âşık olmuş ya da bu resim, karakterlere yönelik farklı amaçlar doğrultusunda bir araç olarak kullanılmıştır.Anlatılan hikâyelerdeki resmi gören her karakter bir şekilde etkilenmiştir. En bariz ifadeyle bu karakterler bir karşı cinse, görmeden âşık olmuştur. Ayrıca anlatılan hikâyelerdeki resmin etki gücü; şekil ve sonuç bakımından hayâl(başkalarının anlatması), rüya ve bazen de ayna motifleriyle benzerlik göstermiştir.`Resm'in Çin ülkesiyle belli bir ilişkisi vardır. Ele alınan hikâyeler genel itibariyle Fars edebiyatı kaynaklıdır; fakat bu konuda tam bir netlik yoktur. Ayrıca resim, rüya, hayâl motifi; görmeden âşık olma anlamında bazı Türk halk hikâyelerinde de geçmektedir.

Several motives were used in the tradition of Dîvân literature. One of these is ?the motive that the princes fall in love after seeing the picture.? Those who saw the picture, in the context of this tradition, either fell in love, or these pictures were used as a means for different aims directed to the characters.Each character seeing the pictures narrated in the stories were influenced in a way. Obviously, these characters fell in love with the opposite sex without seeing them. Besides, the effect of the picture told in the stories had similarities with fancy, dream, and at times mirror motives.There is a certain relationship between the `Picture? and China. In general the analyzed stories are originated in Persian literature; however, this is not certain. In addition, picture, dream and fancy motives are seen in some Turkish folk tales in terms of falling in love without seeing the object.
