A Study on Ayla Kutlu's Stories

Abstract

Ayla Kutlu'nun öyküleri üzerine yaptığımız çalışma iki bölümden oluşur. Birinci bölümde geçmişten günümüze Türk öykücülüğünün gelişimi ve Ayla Kutlu'nun hayatı, edebi kişiliği ve eserleri üzerinde durduk. İkinci bölümümüzde Ayla Kutlu'nun öykülerinde ele aldığı temalar, kişiler, mekân, zaman, dil kullanımı, anlatıcı bakış açısı ve anlatım tekniklerine değindik. Temaları bireysel ve toplumsal temalar olarak iki grupta tasnif ettik. Kutlu, toplumsal tema olarak çoğunlukla savaşa yer verirken; bireysel tema olarak da yalnızlığa yer verir. Öykülerde çoğunlukla savaş temasına yer verilmesinde Kutlu'nun tarihe olan merakıyla eserlerinde tarihi bir fon olarak kullanma isteği gelir. Kutlu'nun tema olarak çoğunlukla savaşı ele alması öykülerdeki zamanın da I. Dünya Savaşı yılları olmasını kaçınılmaz kılar.Ayla Kutlu, öykülerinde ülkemiz insanlarını ?özellikle kadınlarını- acıları, korkuları ve boyun eğişleriyle ele alır. Bunları ele alırken tarafsız bir tavır takınarak öykülerdeki kişi ya da olayların yorumunu okuyucuya bırakır.Öykülerinde Kutlu, mekân olarak İskenderun ve çevresini seçer. Bunda da İskenderun'un kozmopolit yapıda olması ve yazarın büyüdüğü yer olması yatar. Kutlu, mekân olarak seçtiği İskenderun ve çevresini savaşla bağlantılı olarak mekânın zamanla ilişkisi işlevselliğiyle ortaya koyar.Kutlu öykülerinde sade bir dil kullanır. Öykülerinde halk söyleyişlerine ve ağzına yer veren Kutlu argo ve küfürlü konuşmalara da yer vererek öykülerindeki kahramanları canlı kılar. Bunun yanında öykülerini mitolojik öğe/ hikayelerle destekleyerek öykülerini sağlam temellere oturtur.Kutlu öykülerinde I.tekil kişi ve III. Tekil kişi anlatıcı anlatımını kullanır. Bazı öykülerinde ise her iki anlatıcıya birlikte yer vererek öykülerine gerçeklik duygusu katar.1980 sonrası başarılı öykü yazarı olan Ayla Kutlu üzerine yaptığımız bu çalışmanın yararlı olmasını dilerim.

The study that we prepared about the stories of Ayla Kutlu consists of two parts. In the first part we gave a lot of attention on the development of Turk stories from the past to our time and the life, the literary career and the works of Ayla Kutlu. In the second part we mentioned about the themes, characters, setting, time, usage of languagge, the story teller?s point of view and the techniques of story-telling in the stories of Ayla Kutlu.We classified the themes in two groups as personal and social themes. Kutlu, usually includes the war in social theme and she also includes the loneliness in personal theme. In stories, usually the theme of war includes and the reason of it is the curiosity of Kutlu on history and her desire to use the history as a fund on her works. Because of the Kutlu?s general usage of the theme of war, it is unavoidable that the time in the stories is the time of First World War.Ayla Kutlu, in her stories takes in hand our cuntry?s people-especially women- with their pains, fears, and submissions. When Kutlu takes these matters in hand she behaves in a neutral manner, in this way she leaves her readers the comments of the character and event of the stories.In her stories, Kutlu chooses Iskenderun and its surroundings as a setting. The reason of it is the cosmopolitan structure of Iskenderun and Iskenderun is the place where the author grown up. Kutlu used Iskenderun and its surrounding as a setting and she brings this setting with the connection of war as a time-setting relation.Kutlu uses a simple language in her stories. In her stories, Kutlu includes the folk conversation and sayings and she also includes slangs and cants so she makes her characters alive in this way. Nevertheless, she supports her stories with mythological stories and in this way she puts her stories in strong grounds.Kutlu uses I singular teller and III singular teller in her stories. In some of her stories she includes both tellers and in this way she adds the emotion of reality to her stories.After the 1980?s I hope this study that we prepare on the successful storywriter Ayla Kutlu will be useful.
