Examination of the Relationship Between Occupational Burnout and the Life Satisfaction of Music Teachers (example of Van City)

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, müzik öğretmenlerinin mesleki tükenmişlik düzeyleri ile yaşam doyumu düzeylerini tespit etmek, ayrıca bu iki kavramın aralarında ilişki olup olmadığını saptamaktır. Bu doğrultuda araştırmada, model olarak genel tarama modellerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan veriler, Maslach 'Mesleki Tükenmişlik Envanteri', Diener, Emmons, Larsen ve Griffin (1985) 'Yaşam Doyum Ölçeği' ve araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan 'Kişisel Bilgi Formu' ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2019 - 2020 eğitim öğretim yılında Van ilindeki Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'na bağlı devlet okullarında görev yapmakta olan müzik öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem ise, 2019 - 2020 eğitim öğretim yılında Van ili Edremit, İpekyolu ve Tuşba merkez ilçelerinde görev yapan ve ankete yanıt veren 106 müzik öğretmeninden oluşmaktadır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde, Mann-Whitney U testi, One Way ANOVA testi ve Spearman's rho korelasyon analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmada yapılan tüm analizlerde, istatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi (p0,05) olarak kabul edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, çeşitli değişkenlere göre her iki ölçeğin bazı maddelerinde anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Buna ek olarak, duygusal tükenme ve duyarsızlaşma ortalama puanları ile yaşam doyumu ortalama puanları arasında düşük düzeyde negatif yönde bir ilişki olduğu, kişisel başarı ortalama puanları ile yaşam doyumu ortalama puanları arasında ise anlamlı bir ilişkiye rastlanmadığı belirlenmiştir.

The aim of this research is to identify occupational burnout levels and life satisfaction levels of music teachers. It is also aimed to determine whether these two concepts are related or not. In this regard, the relational screening model, which is one of the general screening models, was used as a model in the research. The data used in the study was obtained through the Maslach 'Occupational Burnout Inventory', the Diener, Emmons, Larsen and Griffin (1985) 'life satisfaction scale' and the 'Personal Information Form' created by the researcher. The circle of research consists of music teachers working in public schools under the Ministry of National Education in Van province in the 2019 - 2020 academic year. The sample consists of 106 music teachers working in Edremit, İpekyolu and Tusba which are the central districts of Van province in the 2019-2020 academic year. In analyzing the data, Mann-Whitney U test, One Way ANOVA test and Spearman's rho correlation analysis were performed. In all analyzes made in the research, statistical significance level was accepted as (p0,05). As a result of the research, significant differences were found in some items of both scales according to various variables. In addition, it was determined that there was a low negative relationship between emotional exhaustion and depersonalization mean scores and life satisfaction mean scores, and no significant relationship was found between personal achievement mean scores and life satisfaction mean scores.
