Examining the Effects of Static Balance Training for Dart Athletes on Static Balance and Dart Throwing Performance
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effects of static balance exercises on both the balance ability and dart throwing performance of dart players. Darts, a sport that requires high precision and a stable stance, relies significantly on athletes' ability to maintain balance for successful performance. Although previous studies highlight the positive impact of balance training on athletic performance, similar studies specific to dart players are limited. Thus, this study aims to examine whether static balance exercises contribute to the static balance capacity and throwing accuracy of dart players. Twenty dart players aged between 14 and 20, each with at least two years of experience, participated in the study. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group underwent static balance training for 8 weeks, three days a week, while the control group continued with only regular dart training. Balance measurements—such as perimeter length, area gap percentage, and medium speed—were taken both before and after the intervention, along with measurements of throwing accuracy. The analysis results showed that static balance training significantly improved both the balance abilities and dart throwing performances of the athletes. The decreases observed in perimeter length and area gap percentage in the experimental group indicated that players maintained a more balanced and stable stance. Additionally, the dart throwing accuracy of the experimental group showed a marked increase. These findings suggest that balance exercises positively impact dart performance by enhancing postural control and target accuracy. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that static balance training is a valuable tool for optimizing the performance of dart players. The findings emphasize the importance of incorporating balance exercises into training programs for dart coaches and players. Future studies with larger sample sizes and diverse age groups may provide a more comprehensive evaluation of the effects of balance training.
