Ilhanli Period Coins in the Ahlat Museum

Abstract

İnsanlığın tarihsel gelişim sürecini inceleyebilmek bu konu hakkında fikir sahibi olabilmek için geçmişten-günümüze oluşturduğu medeniyetin yönetim şeklini, dinini, dilini, inancını, ekonomik yapısını, sosyal ve kültürel dokusunu iyice kavrayabilmek gerekir. Bu durumu sağlayabilmek için insanların yaşadıkları toprakların tarihsel gelişimini, coğrafi durumunu göz önüne almak; bu insanların ortaya koydukları sivil ve dini yapıları, el sanatları, taş, ahşap veya madeni eserlerinde görülen sanat göstergelerini incelemek bunlara ilave olarak kullanmış oldukları sikkeleri incelemek gerekir. Çünkü sikkeler ait oldukları medeniyetlerin tarihini, coğrafyasını, dinini, idare şeklini, hükümdarlarını, saltanat sürelerini, inançlarını, sanat etkileşimlerini, iktisadi durumlarını ortaya koyan benzersiz tarihi belgedir. Araştırma konusunun amacı; Ahlat Müzesi'nde bulunan İlhanlı sikkelerini, darp ettiren hükümdarı, darp tarihi, darp yeri, malzeme, ölçü ve bezeme öğeleri bakımından incelemek ve değerlendirilmesini yapmak olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda elde edilecek verilerin, Sanat Tarihi'nin yardımcı alanı olan Nümizmatik bilimine ve bunun yanı sıra birçok bilim dalına da katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmüştür. Bu tez çalışması hazırlanırken gerçekleştirilen metodun ilk aşamasını kaynak taraması oluşturmuştur. Çalışmaya kaynak oluşturabilecek tez, kitap ve makaleler, taranarak temin edilmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci aşamasında Ahlat Müzesi'ndeki sikke envanter defterleri taranmış 'İlhanlı' adı altında kayda alınan sikkeler incelenmiş ve çalışma için ön hazırlık yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın üçüncü aşamasını katalog kısmı oluşturmaktadır. Bu aşamada kronolojik bir sıraya göre düzenlenen sikkelerin darp tarihi, darp yeri, ölçüleri vb. bilgileri verilmiş ve tanımları yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın son aşamasında ise darphaneler, darp tekniği, malzeme, ölçü birimleri ve sikkeler üzerinde yer alan düzenlemeler başlıkları altında genel bir değerlendirmeye gidilmiştir. To examine the historical development process of humanity and have an idea about this subject, it is necessary to comprehend the management style, religion, language, belief, economic structure, social and cultural texture that the civilization has formed from past to present. To maintain this comprehension, it is necessary to take into consideration the historical development and geographical situation of the lands where people live, to examine the civil and religious structures, handicrafts, stone, wood or metal works of art exhibited by these people and to examine the coins they used as well. Because coins are unique historical documents that reveal the history, geography, religion, form of administration, rulers, sovereignty, beliefs, art interactions and economic conditions of the civilizations to which they belong. This research aims to examine and evaluate the Ilkhanid coins found in the Ahlat Museum in terms of the ruler who minted, the date of mint, the place of mint, materials, size and decoration elements. It is thought that the data to be obtained in this context will contribute to numismatic science, which is the auxiliary field of Art History, as well as many other disciplines. The first step of the method used in the preparation of this thesis study was the literature review. The theses, books, and articles that could be used as sources for the study were obtained by scanning. In the second stage of the study, the coin inventory books in the Ahlat Museum were scanned, the coins recorded under the name of 'İlkhanid' were examined and a preliminary preparation was made. The third stage of the study was the catalog section. At this stage, information on the date of mint, the place of mint, measurements, etcof the coins arranged in chronological order was given and definitions were made. In the final stage of the study, a general evaluation was made under the headings of mints, minting technique, material, measurement units and arrangements on coins.
