Banking in the Very First Years of Republic, Industry and Maadin Bank

Abstract

Bu çalışma özet olarak, Osmanlı Devleti'nden Cumhuriyete uzanan süreçte bankacılığın gelişmesi ve Cumhuriyet Dönemindeki iktisadi gelişmelere paralel olarak, liberal iktisat politikası ile devletçilik dönemini incelemiştir. Cumhuriyet'in temel hedefinin ulusal sanayinin temellerinin atılması ve tarımsal üretimin arttırılarak ekonomik kalkınmanın hızlandırılması olması nedeniyle bu kalkınmayı destekleyecek bir ulusal bankacılık sisteminin geliştirilmesi için büyük çabalar harcanmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise, işte bu ulusal bankalardan ilki olan Sanayi ve Maadin Bankası, 1925-1932 yılları arasındaki faaliyetleri ve sermayesine ortak olduğu iştiraklar irdelenmiştir. Sanayi ve Maadin Bankası devletin sanayi ve maden yaşamına fiili müdahale amacıyla oluşturduğu ilk işletme olmaktadır. Türkiye'de ilk kalkınma bankası olan bu bankanın kuruluş amacı, faaliyetleri ve sonuçları ele alınmıştır.

In this study, liberal economy policy and etatism period have been analyzed in parallel with the development of banking and economic improvement in the republic period during the period from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic. Because the main aim of the republic is to lay the foundations of the national industry and to accelerate the economic development by increasing the agricultural production, great efforts had been made in order to develop a national banking system which would support the economic development. In the third chapter, Industry and Maadin Bank which is the first of these national banks, its services in the years between 1925 and 1932 and the shareholdings with which it became a partner have been examined. Industry and Maadin Bank is the first business which the government founded on the purpose of actual intervening in industry and mine fields. The aim of founding the bank which is the first development bank in Turkey, its services and its results are discussed.
