Liberal Thinking Religion and Human Rights in Turkey: an Example of Liberal Thinking Community

Abstract

Bu çalışmamızda liberalizmin Türkiye'de sosyal siyasal ve entelektüelanlamda tarihi serüvenini anlatıp, Liberal Düşünce Topluluğu'nun Türkiye'dekifaaliyetlerini ve Türkiye gündemine taşıdıkları konuları din ve insan haklarıperspektifinde incelemeye çalıştık.Çalışmamız giriş ve iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Tezimizin giriş bölümündegenel olarak liberalizmin din ve insan hakları konuları alındı. Ayrıca LiberalDüşünce Topluluğu'nun entelektüel faaliyetlerini kısaca anlatmaya çalıştık.Birinci bölümde liberalizmin Türkiye'deki serencamını Tanzimat dönemi veCumhuriyet dönemi olmak üzere iki başlık altında inceledik.İkinci bölümde ise Liberal Düşünce Topluluğu'nun kuruluşu ve faaliyetalanları gibi konuları Türkiye bağlamında açıklamaya çalıştık. Ayrıca liberalizmin,din ve insan hakları konuları bu bölümde incelendi. Yine bu bölümde İslâm veliberalizm konuları ele alınarak İslâm ile liberalizmin bağdaşan ve ayrışan yönleriüzerinde durulmaya çalışıldı.

In this study, we explained the historical background of liberalism withinsocial, political and intellectual context and touched on the activities and agenda ofth community of liberal thinking in Turkey through religion and humanitarianperspective.The study consist of the introductory ehapter and two other chapters. In theintroductory chapter of our thesis, liberalism, religion, and human rights issues weregenerally discussed. The intellectual activities of th community of liberal thinkingvere olso analysedIn the first chapter, th formulation, development and expression of liberalismin Turkey were analysed under two sub-titles: Arregement Era and Rpublican Era.In the second chapter, we tried to explain topics such as the foundation andactivity fields of the community of Liberal Thinking Within th contex of Turkey.Also, ıssues of human rights, liberalism and religion were analysed in this chapter;we also made. İnguiries into the different tiating and integrating aspects of İslam anliberalism in this chapter.
