Determination of Several Trace Elements and Heavy Metals (Cr, Al, Se, Pb, Cd, Mn, Cu, Mg, Zn, Co and Ca) in Patients With Colon Cancer Before and After Chemotherapy

Abstract

Bu çalışma Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Medikal Onkolojisi Anabilim Dalında kolon kanseri nedeniyle kemoterapi uygulanan hastalardan kemoterapi öncesi ve sonrası toplam 40 hasta ve sağlıklı 29 kişiden alınan kanlar materyal olarak kullanıldı. Kanserli hasta ile sağlıklı bireylerin serum düzeyleri tayin edildi. Kolon kanserli ve sağlıklı grup ta kemoterapi öncesi alüminyum, kalsiyum, kadmiyum, krom, magnezyum, kurşun, çinko ve selenyum düzeyleri ile kolon kanserli ve sağlıklı grup ta kemoterapi sonrası alüminyum, kalsiyum, kadmiyum, krom, magnezyum, kurşun, çinko ve selenyum düzeyleri (p<0.05) arasında anlamlı bir fark bulundu. Kolon kanserli ve sağlıklı grup ta kemoterapi öncesi mangan ve bakır düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmazken (p>0.05), kolon kanserli ve sağlıklı grupta kemoterapi sonrası mangan ve bakır düzeyleri (p<0.05) arasında anlamlı bir fark bulundu. Kolon kanserli ve sağlıklı grup ta kemoterapi öncesi kobalt düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunurken (p<0.05), kolon kanserli ve sağlıklı grupta kemoterapi sonrası kobalt düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmadı (p>0.05).Anahtar Kelimeler: Kolon kanseri, iz elementler, ağır metaller, kemoterapi

In this study, the bloods collected from total 29 healthy subjects and before and after the chemotherapy whom are applied chemotherapy due to colon cancer in Oncology Department of Medical School of Yuzuncu Yil University. The serum levels of cancer patients and healthy subjects were determined. It is found significant difference among the levels of aluminum, calcium, cadmium, chrome, magnesium, lead, zinc and selenium in colon cancer and healthy group before the chemotherapy and the levels of aluminum, calcium, cadmium, chrome, magnesium, lead, zinc and selenium in colon cancer and healthy group after the chemotherapy (p<0.05). While there is no significant difference found between manganese and copper levels in colon cancer and healthy group before the chemotherapy (p>0.05), it is found significant difference between manganese and copper levels in colon cancer and healthy group after the chemotherapy (p<0.05). While there is significant difference found between cobalt levels in colon cancer and healthy group before the chemotherapy (p<0.05), there is no significant difference found between cobalt levels in colon cancer and healthy group after the chemotherapy (p>0.05).Key words: Colon cancer, trace elements, heavy metals, chemotherapy
