The Carpet Examples and the Features of Design in the Miniature of Surname-I Vehbi

Abstract

?Surname-i Vehbi Minyatürlerinde Halı Örnekleri ve Desen Özellikleri? olarak hazırlamış olduğumuz bu çalışmada, 1720 tarihli Surname-i Vehbi elyazmasında yer alan minyatürlerdeki halı örnekleri Osmanlı saray halılarının desen özellikleri açısından incelenmiştir. Elyazmasında yer alan 45 sahne ile ilgili toplam 53 minyatürde karşımıza çıkan 121 adet halı örneği çalışmaya konu edilmiştir.Surname-i Vehbi el yazması, Seyyid Hüseyin Vehbi tarafından yazılmış, nakkaş Levni tarafından resimlendirilmiştir. El yazmasının üretildiği tarihte, Osmanlı saray halı geleneğine ait güçlü örnekler azalmaya başlamıştır. Ayrıca, 18. yüzyıl saray halıları hakkında günümüze ulaşan bilgi ve belge sayısı da oldukça azdır. Bu nedenle, tez çalışması kapsamında, Surname-i Vehbi minyatürlerinde yer alan halı örnekleri incelenerek, 18. yüzyıl Osmanlı saray halıları açısından değerlendirilmesi önem arz etmektedir.Tez kapsamında, Levni'nin hayatı ve eserleri, Osmanlı saray halıları ve 18. yüzyıldaki durumu hakkında detaylı bilgi verildikten sonra, ilgili minyatürlerde yer alan halı örneklerinin desenleri, motif, kompozisyon, renk, boyut, işlev ve dokuma tekniği açısından incelenmiştir. Halıların desen çizimleri yapılmış ve eksik desenler motif ve kompozisyon özellikleri dikkate alınarak tamamlanmıştır.Değerlendirme ve sonuç bölümlerinde, minyatürlerde karşılaşılan halı örnekleri ile Osmanlı saray halılarının desen özellikleri karşılaştırılmaya çalışılmıştır.Çalışmanın son kısmında ise tez kapsamında incelenen literatürle ilgili bibliyografya ve konu kapsamında incelenen minyatürler ve minyatürlerde yer alan halı örneklerinin çizimlerinden oluşan levha kısmı oluşturulmuştur.

In this study that we have prepared as ?The Carpet Examples and The Features of Design in the Miniature of Surname-i Vehbi ??, the examples of carpets in the miniatures which existed in the handwriting of Surname-i Vehbi,at the date of 1720, have been investigated from the angle of the design features in Ottoman Palace?s carpets. 121 carpet examples that we have faced in the totally 52 miniatures related 45 parts existing in the handwriting , have been added to this work.The handwriting of Surname-i Vehbi has been written by Seyyid Hüseyin Vehbi and has been pictured by Levni. From the date which handwriting has been existed, important examples about the tradition of carpets in Ottoman Palace have been started to decrease. Furthermore, the number of information and documents that have been reached today about the tradition of carpets in Ottoman Palace are too little.Because of this reason, in the inclusion of thesis study, it is so important that the carpet examples existing in the miniatures of Surname-i Vehbi have been investigated and evaluated from the point of 18th century Ottoman Palace carpets.In the thesis,firstly,elaborate information has been given about the life and work of Levni, Ottoman Palace carpets and Ottoman situation in 18th century. After that, the design of carpet samples existing in related miniatures has been examined from the point of motif,subject,colour, size, function and the techniques of textile. Design drawings of carpets have been made and deficient designs have been completed by taking attention to the features of motif and subject.At the parts of evaluation and conclusion , carpet examples in miniatures have been tried to compared with the design features in Ottoman Palace carpets.At the last part of the study, the bibliography about the litterateur which has been examined in the thesis, the miniatures about the subject and the table consisting the drawings of carpet examples in miniatures, have been constituted.
