Examination of Exercise Addiction and Anxiety of Catching Covid-19 in Individuals Who Do Regular Exercise
Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between exercise addiction and anxiety about catching Covid-19 in adults among various variables. Exercise addiction and anxiety about catching Covid-19; Gender, age, regular sports status, chronic disease status, occupation, harmful habits, frequency of exercising, and concerns about catching a new type of coronavirus were examined, in addition, the relationship between exercise addiction and anxiety about catching coronavirus was examined. The study was carried out with the participation of 956 volunteers aged 18 and over who exercised. Relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. As the data collection sources of the study, Exercise Dependence Scale (EBÖ) and Athletes' Anxiety of Conceiving New Type Coronavirus (SYTKYKÖ) (Demir et al.2018; Tekkurşun et al. 2020) were used. SPSS in all analyzes. 25 programs were used. The statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05 in all calculations. It was determined by Kolmogrov-Similov test that the study did not show normal distribution and non-parametric tests were applied. As a result of the study; While there is a significant difference in age and occupational groups in individuals who exercise regularly in the SYTKYKS scale. In the EBÖ scale; It has been determined that there is a significant difference in the variables of age, gender, frequency of exercise. As a result of the correlation made with the sub-dimensions of the scale, there was a positive and low significant difference between individual anxiety levels and excessive focus, mood change, tolerance development, passion and total exercise addiction, socialization anxiety level, postponing individual-social needs and conflict, positive low significant, total anxiety It has been determined that there is a positive and low level significant relationship between the levels of excessive focus and emotion change, tolerance development and passion, and total exercise addiction. Keywords: exercise, covid-19, exercise addiction
