The Role of the İran During Syria Civil War: Effect of Shiite

Abstract

İran kadim tarihi, güçlü kültürü ve mezhep anlayışı itibariyle Orta Doğu'da bulunan nadir bir devlettir. Orta Doğu coğrafyasında bölgesel güç olma hedefi olan İran, dış politikada birçok farklı etmene bağlıdır. İran, Şii nüfusun yoğunlukta olduğu bir ülkedir. Şiiliğin İran tarihinde siyasallaşma süreci yüzlerce yıla tekabül eder. 1501 yılında Şah İsmail'in Şiiliği resmileştirmesi ile Şiilik siyasallaşma sürecine girmiştir. Bu süre zarfında İran hem toplumsal düzeyde hem de yönetimsel düzeyde değişime uğramıştır. İran 1979 İslam Devrimi sonrası bölgede Şii hamisi görevini üstlenmiş ve bölge ülkelerini mezhepsel bakımdan etki altına almıştır. Tunus'ta 2010 yılında başlayan Arap Baharı ayaklanmalarıyla birlikte Orta Doğu'da aktörlerin dış politikaları da çıkarları açısından değişikliğe uğramıştır. Arap Baharı'nın Suriye'de patlak vermesiyle birlikte Ortadoğu'da İran'ın en önemli müttefiki tehdit altında kalmıştır. İran Arap Baharı ile birlikte gelen tehditleri bertaraf etme girişimlerinde bulunmuştur. Bu girişimlerin belirginleştiği en önemli nokta Suriye İç Savaşı'dır. Tezin ana amacı İran'ın Suriye İç Savaşı'ndaki rolünü tartışıp İran'ın bu savaşta elde edeceği kazançları analiz etmektir. Bir diğer amaç ise bölgesel güç olma hedefini diri tutan İran'ın bu yolda Şiiliği hangi bakımda ele aldığı incelenecektir. Tez kapsam bakımından İran'ın tarihsel süreci ile başlayıp bu süreç içerisinde İran'ın Şiileşmesi ve bu mezhebin siyasallaşma sürecine değinilecektir. Arap Baharı ile Orta Doğu'yu etkisi altına alan ayaklanmaların Suriye'ye sıçraması ele alınacaktır. Son minvalde İran'ın Suriye İç Savaşı boyunca politikası ve çıkarları vurgulanacaktır.

Iran is a unique state in the Middle East with its ancient history, strong culture and sectarian view. Iran, which aims to be a regional power in the Middle East, depends on many different factors in foreign policy. The administration was based on a sectarian. The process of Shiite politicization in Iranian history corresponds to hundreds of years. In 1501, with the officialization of Shah Ismail, Shiite entered the politicization process. During this period, Iran has undergone changes at both the social and administrative level. Iran assumed the role of a Shiite patron in the region after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and brought the countries of the region under sectarian influence. With the Arab Spring uprisings that started in Tunisia in 2010, the foreign policies of actors in the Middle East have also changed in terms of their interests. With the Arab Spring erupting in Syria, Iran's most important ally in the Middle East has been threatened. Iran has attempted to eliminate the threats that came with the Arab Spring. The most important point in which these initiatives become evident is the Syrian Civil War. The main purpose of our thesis is to discuss the role of Iran in the Syrian Civil War and analyze Iran's earnings in this war. Another aim will be to examine the maintenance of Iran, which maintains its goal of being a regional power, in this way. Our thesis will start with the historical process of Iran in terms of scope, and will address the Shiiteization of Iran and the politicization process of this sect. The leap of the riots that affected the Arab Spring and the Middle East to Syria will be discussed. In the last aspect, Iran's policy and interests will be emphasized during the Syrian Civil War.
