Abstract
Pregnancy is physiological changes that narrow the boundary between health and illness. Therefore, every pregnancy poses a potential risk. In this thesis study, blood serum samples were taken from 3rd trimester pregnant and healthy control women. In this study, it was aimed to determine malondialdehyde (MDA) level, which is the final product of lipid peroxidation, an oxidative stress indicator, and some antioxidant activities such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), reduced glutathione (GSH) and catalase (CAT). SOD, CAT and GSH activities decreased significantly in the third trimester pregnancy group compared to the healthy control group (p <0.05), but the levels of MDA parameters increased significantly compared to the healthy control group (p <0.05). As a result, any imbalance between antioxidants and oxidative stress may be the cause of cellular damage, which alters the oxidative stress that occurs during pregnancy. Also, this antioxidant system works like a defense system to protect the body
