An Approach on Miniatured Codes, One of the Illustrated Documents of Turkish Islamic Art: Siyar-I Nebi, Found in Dublin Chester Beatty Library

Abstract

On altıncı yüzyıl, Osmanlı minyatürü için hem erken örneklerin verildiği hem de klasik Osmanlı minyatür anlayışının oluştuğu zaman dilimidir. Bu dönemde siyasi erk sosyal hayatı da etkilemiş, kitap yazımı altın çağını yaşamıştır. Osmanlı minyatür sanatı içerisinde on altıncı yy. dinî konulu minyatürlü yazmaları arasında peygamberlerin hayatlarını ve mucizelerini anlatan eserler bulunmaktadır. Bu eserlerin en seçkin örneklerinden sayılan 'Siyer-i Nebi' başlıklı yazma, tez çalışmasının konusu olarak belirlenmiştir. Türk İslam Sanatında, Hz. Peygamber ile ilgili minyatürlü yazmalar bulunmakla birlikte 814 illüstrasyon yer aldığı 'Siyer-i Nebi', Hz. Peygamber'in hayatının tamamının tasvirlendiği tek yazma olması bakımından büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Eser, Hz Muhammed'in hayatının tamamını anlatması ve ilk Türkçe siyer olması bakımından bir başyapıt niteliğindedir. Sahip olduğu bu özellikler ile eser üzerine yapılacak bilimsel bir çalışmanın ne denli önem arz ettiği açıktır. Dublin Chester Beatty Kütüphanesi'nde bulunan T.419 numaralı nüsha; 37x27 cm ebatlarında, 490 yapraklı, 137 minyatürlüdür. Siyah bir ciltle kaplanmıştır. Üst kısımda önemi anlatılan bu eser, İslam âleminin sevgili peygamberinin on dördüncü yy. da nasıl aktarıldığının anlaşılması bakımından oldukça önemlidir. Minyatürlerin eserin yazılışından iki yüz yıl sonra resmedildiği düşünülürse bu minyatürlerin anlatımları ne denli yansıttığı, sanatçılar tarafından nasıl algılandığı çıkış noktası olarak düşünülmektedir. Çalışmada, Dublin Chester Beatty Kütüphanesi'nde T.419 envanter/demirbaş numarası ile kayıtlı olan ve farklı disiplinlerde birçok araştırmacının üzerine çalıştığı bu eserin metin ve minyatür kısımları birlikte ele alınıp üzerinde çalışılmıştır.

The sixteenth century is the period when both early examples of Ottoman miniature are given and classical Ottoman miniature understanding is formed. In this period, political power also affected social life, and book writing experienced its golden age. Among the sixteenth-century miniature manuscripts on religious subjects in the Ottoman miniature art are works describing the lives and miracles of the prophets. The manuscript titled 'Siyer-i Nebi', which is considered one of the most outstanding examples of these works, was determined as the subject of the thesis study. Although there are miniature writings about the Prophet Muhammad in Turkish Islamic Art, 'Siyer-i Nebi', which contains 814 illustrations, has a great importance in terms of being the only manuscript in which the entire life of the Prophet Muhammad is depicted. It is a masterpiece in that it describes the whole life of the Prophet Muhammad in the work and is the first Turkish Siyer. With these features, it is clear how important a scientific study on the work is. Copy T.419, held in the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin, measures 37 x 27 cm, has 490 leaves, 137 miniatures and is covered in black volume. This work, the importance of which is explained above, is very important in terms of understanding how the beloved prophet of the Islamic world was transmitted in the fourteenth century. Considering that the miniatures were painted two hundred years after the work was written, how much these miniatures reflect the narratives and how the artists perceive them is thought to be the starting point. In this study, the text and miniature parts of this work, which is registered in Dublin Chester Beatty Library with the inventory number T.419 and which many researchers in different disciplines are working on, are examined together.
