The Students of Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Division, and Department of Musical Education Perceived the Popular Music
Abstract
Bu araştırma, Eğitim Fakültesi Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü Müzik Eğitimi Anabilim dalını tercih eden bireylerin, popüler müziği algılama durumları ve popüler müzik kültürü endüstrisi ürünlerine yaşamlarında yer verme durumlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır.Araştırmada yer alan nitel veriler daha çok kaynak tarama yoluyla, nicel veriler ise Eğitim Fakültesi Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü Müzik Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencilerine uygulanan anket formlarıyla elde edilmiştir. Anket yönteminin uygulanması ile elde edilen veriler, SPSS 17.0 veri analizi programının uygulanması sonucunda oluşturulan yüzde frekans tabloları ile yorumlanmıştır. Bulgular, araştırmanın amacına göre ele alınmış, tablolar yardımıyla yorumlanarak açıklanmıştır.Araştırmada, Eğitim Fakültesi Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü Müzik Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencilerinin kendi müzik kültürlerinde, popüler müziğe ne ölçüde ve nasıl yer verdikleri incelenmeyle çalışılmıştır. Bununla birlikte müzik öğretmeni adaylarının, kendi müzik kültürlerinde popüler müziği sanatsal içerik anlamında nasıl değerlendirdikleri incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmayla popüler müziğin akademik düzeyde algılanış biçimi ve akademik eğitim içerisinde konumunun ileriki bir süreçte nasıl olacağının tartışılması amaçlanmıştır.Araştırmanın sonucunda; Eğitim Fakültesi Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü Müzik Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencilerinin kendi müzik kültürlerinde, popüler müziğe sıklıkla yer verdikleri, bununla birlikte popüler müziği sanatsal içerik taşımayan, eğlence amaçlı yapılan bir müzik türü olarak algıladıkları görülmektedir. Bulguların değerlendirilmesi sonucunda öğrencilerin, popüler müziğin kaliteli olarak, belli bir birikim sonucunda yapılması gerektiği, bunun için de popüler müzik ile ilgili akademik bölümlerin açılması ve müzik eğitimi bölümlerinde popüler müzik ile ilgili derslerin müfredatta daha fazla yer almasını istedikleri ortaya çıkmıştır.Araştırmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda, konuyla ilgili yarar sağlayacağı düşünülen bazı öneriler getirilmiştir.
This study has been conducted to determine how the students of Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Division, and Department of Musical Education perceived the popular music and how they included the products of popular music culture to their lives.Qualitative data in the study has been obtained by literature review while quantitative data has been obtained by means of survey forms given to the students of Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Division, and Department of Musical Education. Data obtained by the application of the survey has been interpreted with percentage frequency tables established at the end of SPSS 17.0 data analysis program. Findings have been handled according to the results of the study and they have been explained by being interpreted through tables.In this study it has been tried to be examined how and to which extent the students of Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Division, and Department of Musical Education included popular music to their own music culture. In addition to that, it has been examined how the music teacher candidates evaluated popular music within their own music culture. It has been aimed with that study to discuss how the perception manner of popular music and its position in academic education will be in the future.At the end of the study; it has been seen that students of Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Division, and Department of Musical Education included popular music to their own music culture frequently but also they considered popular music as a kind of music, which does not have an artistic content and which is made for entertainment. As a result of evaluating the findings, it has been revealed that the students want the popular music to be made in quality with a certain amount of knowledge and they wanted relevant academic divisions to be opened with this aim and lectures in music department regarding popular music to be included to curriculum more. In accordance with these results, some recommendations, which are thought to be useful, have been made regarding the subject.
