The Portal Forms in the Christian Religious Architecture of the Van Lake Basin

Abstract

?Van Gölü Havzası Hıristiyan Dini Mimarisi'nde Taçkapı Formları? çalışmasında Ermeni Mimarisi'ne ait taçkapı unsurunun ne kadar sıklıkla ele alındığını anlamak, bu yapı unsurlarının tipolojisini çıkarmak ve farklı medeniyetlerle benzerliklerini ortaya koyup sonuçta da bu eserlerin genel durumu hakkında fikir sahibi olabilmek amacıyla, Bitlis ve Van'da arazi çalışmaları yapılmış ve bu kapsamda On Dört'ü günümüze ulaşan, 3'ü ise günümüze ulaşamayan toplam 17 taçkapı tespit edilmiştir.Taçkapıların Ermeni mimarisi içerisindeki yeri ile Selçuklu ve Osmanlı mimarisine ait taçkapı unsurlarıyla benzerlikleri ve farkları tespit edilmiştir. Taçkapıların gerek mimari çizimlerinin yapılarak gerekse de fotoğraflarının çekilerek belgelenmesi işlemleri tamamlanmıştır.

In the paper entitled ?The Portal Forms in The Christian Religious Architecture of The Van Lake Basin?, in order to understand how much often the portal element belonging to the Armenian Architecture is discussed, to obtain the typology of the elements of this structure and by revealing the similarities of the various civilizations, eventually, to hold a view about the general situation of these artifacts, some land works are performed in Bitlis and Van and within this framework, in total 17 portals; fourteen of them which are the extants, three of them, though, which are not extants are determined.The portals?status in Armenian architecture and the similarities and the differences with the portal elements of Seljuq and Ottoman architecture are determined. By carrying out the architectural drawings of the portals and also by taking photos, the documentation procedure is completed.
