A Research on Teachers' Views on Utilizing Allegorical Literary Works in English Teaching
Abstract
Due to its international status and widespread recognition, English has taken on a more prominent role in the modern globalized world. Because of this, the teaching of English as a growing field has recently been called into question. This study aims to have a look at the situation in question, 'What are the teachers' views on the utilization of Allegoric literary works in English teaching?' An interview plan was created for the study. Eight open-ended questions were added to the interview. The interview was carried out with eight male teachers and seven female teachers who are working in different schools in the district of Van. The answers given by respondents were examined in the literature review focusing on the relationship between metaphors, symbols, and idiomatic expressions in allegoric works and communicative competence. To enhance communicative competence of learners, a large number of methods, techniques and materials were offered. However, the opinions of the teachers who use them haven't taken enough attention yet. Because there has been a lot of focus placed on the requirement for highly qualified language teachers, this study lends credibility to the teachers' views on the subject to guide upcoming teachers.
