Microphysics of Power on Michel Foucault's Thought

Abstract

Foucault, insan bilimlerinin söylem düzenleri üzerine arkeolojik bir yöntemle çalışmalar yürütmekteyken, nihai noktada söylemsel oluşumların işlem düzeyinde iktidarla spesifik bir ilişki içinde olduğunu fark eder. Bu aşamadan itibaren Foucault'un yeni hedefi iktidarın kendisi olur. Mevcut kuramsal analiz yöntemlerini yetersiz gören Foucault, O'nun soykütüğü adını verdiği bir yöntemle iktidarı analiz eder.İktidarın bilgiyle girdiği döngüsel ilişkinin mantığını kavrayan Foucault çalışmalarının en özgün yanını oluşturan bir temayı ön plana çıkarır.O'na göre iktidar strateji ve taktiklerle işleyen bir dizi teknolojiye dayanmaktaydı ve 17. ve 18. yüzyıllarda iktidarın hala günümüzde bile yürürlükte olan iki büyük teknolojisini keşfeder. Bunlardan ilki; beden üzerinde uygulanan disiplin iktidarı diğeri ise; nüfus ve yaşam üzerinde uygulanan biyo- iktidardır.Foucault'a göre, günümüzde bile iktidar mekanizmaları ancak bu iki iktidar teknolojisi düzleminde anlaşılabilir.

While studying arrangement of expressions of arts by using an archeological method, Foucault at the end realizes that expressional formations are in a specific relation on procession level. Beginning from this stage, Foucault?s new target is power itself, now. Foucault perceiving present theoretical analysis methods as insufficient, he analyses power with a method that he named as generation-data-set.Grasping the sense of the circular relation between power and knowledge, Foucault underlines a theme which shapes his research?s most unique side.According to him, power is based upon a technology series running with strategy and tactics and he discovers these two crucial technologies which are still in use today in 17th and 18th centuries. First of them is the discipline power applied upon the body and the other is bio-power applied upon population and lifetime.Up to Foucault, even today, power mechanisms may solely run in line with the platform of these two power technologies.
