Peyami Safa's Opinions About Religion Education in the Context of General Education

Abstract

Türk edebiyatının ve Türk fikir hayatının önemli şahsiyeti olan Peyami Safa'nın hayat mücadelesinde genel eğitim anlamında din eğitimi için verdiği mücadele bu tezin ana esasını oluşturur. Milli, maneviyatçı, mukaddesatçı düşünceleriyle bilinen Peyami Safa zor yaşam koşullarında yetişmiş olmasına rağmen, bu zorluklar, onu yıldırmamış, bildiği doğruları söylemekten alı koymamıştır. Özellikle de döneminin birçok ilmini kalem oynatacak kadar öğrenmiştir. Edebiyat, edebi akımlar, felsefe, sosyoloji, psikoloji ve mantık alanlarında kendini yetiştirmiş makale, fıkra, roman, hikaye ve tiyatro gibi edebi türlerde eserler yazmıştır. Türk inkılabının doğru bir şekilde anlaşılması için etkin bir mücadele vermiş, döneminde din eğitiminin yapılması hususunda gayret etmiştir. Peyami Safa, yazılarında 'terbiye' ve 'din terbiyesi' kavramlarını kullanmıştır. Genel eğitim anlamında Maarif Vekâletinde (Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı) gördüğü aksaklık ve eksiklikleri yazmıştır. Ayrıca din eğitimin yapılmasına yönelik ülke genelinde konulan engeller ve oluşturulan manipülasyon ile dezenformasyona karşı mücadele etmiştir. Safa, din ve bilimin bir arada olabileceğini dolayısıyla eğitim sistemimin her kademesinde genel eğitim ile birlikte din eğitimin de verilebileceğini din eğitimi ve öğretiminin genç nesle gerekli olduğunu karakter, nitelik, ahlak kazandırılması açısından son derece önemli ve elzem olacağını düşünmüştür. Ayrıca din ile bilimin birbirinden ayrı olmadığını söylemiş, bunun için dünya bilim tarihine damga vurmuş şahsiyetleri örnek olarak vermiştir. Peyami Safa, bunun yanında özellikle gençler arasında yayılan ateizmle de mücadele etmiştir.

The struggle that scrambled by Peyami Safa who is positive and modest person of Turkish thought world and Turkish literature, for religion education in terms of general education is the main principle of this paper. Despite the fact that Peyami Safa who was known by his nationalitist, moralist ideas and his personality devoted to sacred, was growing up in hard conditions, these conditions couldn't dump him and prevent him to tell truths. He learned all disciplinesof the age, especially all disciplines of his time as he could write about them. He educated himself in fields such as literature, literary movements, philosophy, sociology, psychology, dialectic and he wrote pieces in literary fields such as article, anecdote, novel, story and theater. He struggled effectively fot understood of Turkish revolutions correctly and he was not oblivious to applying of religion education in the context of general education. Peyami. Safa used decency and religion decency in his writings. He wrote hitches and deficiencies of education ministry without hesitation. He also struggled with barriers against applying of religion education all around the country and manipulation and disinformation against religion education. Safa thought these; religion and science could be together so religion education could be applied in all grades beside the general education, religion education and scolarship could be important very much to get young generations to gain moral, quality and personality. Peyami Safa thought that religion and science were not far from each other by giving examples of most important people of science and world history. Besides Peyami Safa especially struggled with atheism spreaded among youngs.
