A Review on the Compliance of Articles Published in the Field of Writing Education With Academic Text Writing Principles

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, yazma eğitimi alanında yazılan makalelerin akademik metin yazma ilkelerine uygunluğunu belirlemektir. Bu amaç çerçevesinde yazma eğitimi alanında yayımlanan makalelerin başlıklarının, yazar bilgilerinin, özetlerinin, anahtar kelimelerinin, giriş, yöntem, bulgular, tartışma, sonuç bölümlerinin, önerilerinin ve kaynakçalarının akademik metin yazma ilkelerine uygun olup olmadığı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden 'temel nitel araştırma' desenine göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın çalışma materyalini yazma eğitimi alanında yayımlanan toplam 200 makale çalışması oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veriler doküman incelemesine göre toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanması ve değerlendirmesinde araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Makalelerin Akademik Metin Yazma İlkelerine Uygunluğunu Değerlendirme Formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analizle çözümlenmiş, temalar altında, tablolar halinde sayı (N) ve yüzdeliklerle (%) sunulmuş ve yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmada araştırmacıların makalelerin başlık, yazar bilgisi, anahtar kelimeler, bulgular, tartışma, sonuç, öneriler ve kaynakçalarını hazırlamada yetkin oldukları ve bu bölümleri büyük oranda akademik metin yazma ilkelerine uygun yazdıkları görülmüştür. Buna karşın özet, giriş ve yöntem bölümlerini akademik metin yazma ilkelerine göre yeterince uygun yazmadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonunda çeşitli önerilere yer verilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to determine the compliance of the articles written in the field of writing education with the principles of academic text writing. Within the framework of this purpose, it has been tried to determine whether the titles, author information, abstracts, keywords, introduction, method, findings, discussion, conclusion sections, suggestions and bibliographies of the articles published in the field of writing education comply with the principles of writing academic texts. The study was conducted according to the 'basic qualitative research' design, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The study material of the research consists of a total of 200 articles published in the field of writing education. In the study, the data were collected according to the document review. In the collection and evaluation of the data, the Assessment Form for the Compliance of the Articles with the Principles of Academic Writing developed by the researcher was used. The data obtained were analyzed with descriptive analysis, presented and interpreted under themes in tables with numbers (N) and percentages (%). In the study, it was observed that the researchers were competent in preparing the titles, author information, keywords, findings, discussion, results, suggestions and bibliographies of the articles and wrote these sections in accordance with the principles of writing academic texts to a large extent. On the other hand, it was determined that they did not write the abstract, introduction and method sections appropriately according to the principles of writing academic texts. Various suggestions were included at the end of the study.
