Welfare in Beef Cattle

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, besi sığırı yetiştiriciliğinde refah kavramı, refah ile stres, bakım-besleme, yönetim, yetiştirme sistemleri ile refahın karkas kalitesine etkisi gibi başlıkların bilimsel veriler ışığında ve mevzuatlar çerçevesinde açıklanması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın materyalini, hayvan refahına ilişkin konuları yayınlayan tez, kitap, dergi, makale, bildiri, internet belgeleri ile Resmî Gazete'deki kanun ve yönetmelikler oluşturmuştur. Besi sığırları, hayvan refahı konusundaki bilimsel veriler ve yasal mevzuatlar dikkate alınarak, stres faktörlerinden uzak tutulduğunda, hayvanın biyolojik, fizyolojik ve psikolojik bütünlüğü korunacak, böylece hayvanın besi performansı ve karkas kalitesinde sorunlar oluşmadan, hayvan başına karkas veriminde artışın sağlanabileceği, işletmelerde refah olgusu altında ekonomik sürdürülebilir besi sığırı yetiştiriciliğinin yapılması durumunda, işletmelerin gelirlerini önemli ölçüde arttırabileceği ve ülke ekonomisine katkı sağlayacakları söylenebilir. In this study, it is aimed to explain the topics such as welfare concept, welfare and stress, care-feeding, management, breeding systems and the effect of welfare on carcass quality in beef cattle breeding in the light of scientific data and within the framework of legislation. The material of the study consisted of thesis, books, journals, articles, bulletin, internet documents and laws and regulations in the official newspaper that published issues related to animal welfare. Scientific data on animal welfare and legal regulations taking into account, when beef cattle are kept away from stress factors, biological, physiological and psychological integrity of the animal will be preserved, thus, there will be no problems in the animal's fattening performance and carcass quality, can be achieved increase in carcass yield per animal, in case of economic sustainable beef cattle breeding under the welfare phenomenon in enterprises, enterpises can increase their income significantly and it can be said that they will contribute to the national economy.
