Alcohol and Tobacco Use and Factors Associated With of Alcohol and Tobacco in the Yuzuncu Yil University Students.

Abstract

Alkol ve tütün kullanımı tüm dünyada oldugu gibi ülkemizde önemli bir saglık problemidir. Ergenlik ve genç eriskinlik dönemleri bu maddelere baslama için önemli bir risk olusturmaktadır. Bu çalısmada Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi örneklemini yansıtan bir grup ögrencide alkol, tütün kullanım sıklıgı ve kullanım ile iliskili etmenler incelenmistir. Bu arastırma 2005?2006 bahar yarıyılında Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi yerleskesinde ve Van il merkezindeki fakülte ve yüksekokullarda ögrenim gören 1. ve son sınıf ögrencilerinde yapılmıstır. Deneklerin 141'i kadın, 150'si erkek ögrencilerden olusmaktadır. Son bir ay içinde düzenli sigara, alkol kullanan ve kullanmayan grupların çesitli özellikleri karsılastırıldı. Tütün, alkol ve madde kullanımı ile ilgili olarak yasam oyunca en az bir kere deneme oranlarına bakıldıgında, ögrencilerin %56.2 sinin tütünlü bir ürün denedigi, %34.6 sının alkollü içecekleri denedikleri bulundu Ögrencilerin %20.6'sı (n=60) düzenli alkol kullanımı bildirmekteydi. Ögrencilerin %42.6'sı (n=124) düzenli tütün kullanımı bildirmekteydi. Genel olarak alkol kullanımının Batı illerinde yapılan çalısmalardan daha düsük oldugu, ç Anadolu ve Güneydogu Anadolu bölgeleri illerinde yapılan çalısmalardan yüksek oldugu göze çarpmaktadır. Sigara içme açısından Türkiye'deki diger bölgelerde yapılan çalısmalarla benzer bulunmustur. Adolescence and early adulthood period has highly risk for the onset of alcohol and tobacco use. In this study, the frequency of alcohol and tobacco use and factors associated with of alcohol and tobacco in the university students were investigated. Alcohol and tobacco use were investigated in the representative sample of 291 students in the Yüzüncü Yıl University. Sample consists of 141 female and 150 male. The various characteristics of the subject with alcohol and tobacco users were compared with those of non users. While the percentage of subjects experiencing tobacco for once was 56.2%, the 34.6% of students reported that they experienced alcohol for once in their lifetime. While 20.6 % of the students reported that they had been using alcohol regularly, 42.6% of students were the regular tobacco users. This study revealed that the frequency of alcohol use in the Yüzüncü Yıl University less than the universities in the Western region of Turkey.
