Students' Views Concerning the Current Condition and the One Expected From Their Families in Their Education Process

Abstract

Öğrenci ve okul başarısında aile-okul işbirliğinin önemli bir payı vardır. Aile-okul ilişkisinin geliştirilmesine ve doğal alarak öğrenci davranışına yansımasına yönelik birçok araştırma yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmaların ortak özelliği; okul-aile ilişkisinin geliştirilmesi yönünde toplanan görüşleri yansıtmalarıdır.Aile-okul işbirliğinin temel amacı ailelerin katılımı ve desteği ile öğrenci ve okul başarısını yükseltmektir. Ailelerin, öğrenciye yeterli düzeyde destek verebilmesi için öğrencinin beklenti ve ihtiyaçlarını bilmeleri gerekmektedir. Böylece ailelerin öğrencilerine nasıl davrandıklarının saptanmasından hareketle, öğrencilerin öğrenim süreçlerine ilişkin ailelerinden beklentilerinin saptanması gerekmektedir.Bu çalışmada, öğrencilerin öğrenim süreçlerine ilişkin ailelerinden beklentileri araştırılmaktadır. Van ili merkez ilköğretim okullarından farklı sosyo-ekonomik düzeye (üst, orta ve alt) sahip ve seçkisiz olarak belirlenen 9 ilköğretim okulunun 6., 7. ve 8. sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde yapılan çalışmanın deseni, tarama modelinde olup; araştırma, toplam 960 öğrenci üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen, öğrencilere ait genel bilgiler elde edebilmek amacıyla ?Kişisel Bilgi Formu? ile öğrencilerin öğrenim süreçlerine ilişkin ailelerinden beklentilerini belirlemeye yönelik iki ayrı formdan oluşan var olan ve beklenen durumla ilgili öğrenci beklentileri ölçme aracı kullanılmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde SPSS 15.0 paket programı kullanılmıştır. Analizlerde, ilişkili veriler için t-testinden, grup puanlarının karşılaştırılmasında ise Çok Değişkenli Varyans Analizinden (MANOVA) faydalanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin öğrenim süreçlerine ilişkin ailelerinden beklentileri, ?aile gelir düzeyi, anne öğrenim düzeyi, baba öğrenim düzeyi, öğrenim görülen sınıf ve cinsiyet? değişkenlerine göre incelenmiş ve yorumlanmıştır.Sonuçlar, öğrenim süreçlerine ilişkin aile davranışları (var olan) ile öğrenci beklentileri (beklenen) arasında, öğrenci beklentileri lehine, anlamlı farklılık olduğunu göstermektedir. Baba eğitim düzeyi ve öğrenim görülen sınıf değişkenleri esas alındığında var olan ve beklenen durumda gruplara ilişkin puanların anlamlı bir şekilde farklılaştığı; anne eğitim ve aile gelir düzeyi değişkenlerine göre var olan durumda gruplara ilişkin puanların anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği, beklenen durumda ise anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği; cinsiyet değişkeni esas alındığında ise var olan durumda grup puanlarının farklılaşmadığı, beklenen durumda farklılık olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Öğrenme-Öğretme Süreci, Öğrenci Beklentisi, İletişim.

There is a significant role of school-family relationship on the success of student and the school. There are many researches that reflect the student behaviors, which naturally depends on the development of parent-school relationship. The common point in this studies reflect the ideas to develop school- family relationship.The main aim of the school-family relationship is to increase the success of student and school with the help and contirbution of the families. Families need to know the expectations and needs of the students in order them to support student sufficiently. Therefore, deciding how families are treating students, we have to determine the expectations from the families during the teaching process.In this study, the expectations of students from their families regarding their learning period have been studied. The working design which has been carried out on 6 th, 7 th and 8 th grade students choosen randomly from 9 primary school belonging to different socio-economic level (high, middle and low) from primary school in Van, and the research has been carried out on 960 students. In the study, in order to gain general information about the students and to determine the students? expectations from their families regarding their learning process with ?Individual Information Form?, the student expectations scale consisting of to seperate forms developed by the researcher himself have been used. In analysing of the data, SPSS 15.0 packet program has been used. In the analyses, it has been benefited from T-test for the related data, and from Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) in comparing the group points. Students? expectations from their families regarding their education process have been analysed and evaluated according to variables such as ?the income level of the family, mother and fathers? education level, education level and gender.?The results, have shown meaningfull differences in favour of the expectations of students compared with existing family behaviours concerning education process. In view of father?s education level and education grade variables, it has been observed that the points regarding the groups present according to mother?s education and family income varibles have shown meaningfull differences, but no difference in the expected position. However, considering gender varible, although the group points in the present situation aren?t varied, there is difference in the expected situation.Keywords: Learning-Educating Process, Expectation of Student, Communication.
