A Study on Vocabulary Items in 6, 7 and 8th Grade Turkish Textbooks

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarında yer alan metinlerin söz varlığı ögelerini belirlemektir. Araştırmada ifade edilen temel amaç kapsamında; 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarında yer alan metinlerde işlenen sözcüklerin sıklık dizinini, sözcüklerin türlerine ve sayılarına göre (atasözleri, deyimler, ikilemeler, kısaltmalar, Türkçeleşmemiş sözcükler, özel isimler, özdeyişler, ilişki sözleri, söz varlığı ögelerinin temalara dağılımı) dağılımını tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın ifade edilen amaçları çerçevesinde araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın nesneleri, MEB tarafından 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında ortaokul 6, 7 ve 8. sınıflarda okutulan Eksen, Destek ve MEB Yayınevlerine ait Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki metinlerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın verilerini analiz etmek için içerik analizi ve betimsel istatistiki yöntemlerden frekans ve yüzde hesaplama kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda incelenen 6, 7 ve 8. Sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarının Türkçenin söz varlığını yansıtma açısından değişkenlikler gösterdiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca Türkçe ders kitaplardaki metinlerde sözcük sayısı arttıkça farklı söz sayısında da artış olduğu belirlenmiştir. Anahtar Sözcükler: Söz Varlığı, Türkçe, Ders Kitapları, Türkçe Eğitimi

The aim of this study is to determine the vocabulary elements of the texts in the 6, 7 and 8th grade Turkish textbooks. Within the scope of the main purpose stated in the research; The frequency index of the words processed in the texts in the Turkish textbooks of 6th, 7th and 8th grades, according to the types and numbers of the words (proverbs, idioms, duplicates, abbreviations, non-Turkish words, special nouns, aphorisms, relationship words, distribution of vocabulary elements to themes) distribution intended to identify. Within the framework of the stated objectives of the study, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The objects of the study consist of the texts in the Turkish textbooks of Eksen, Destek and MEB Publishers, which were taught by the Ministry of Education in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades of the secondary school in the 2018-2019 academic year. In order to analyze the data of the study, frequency and percentage calculation, content analysis and descriptive statistical methods were used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks showed variations in terms of reflecting the vocabulary of Turkish. In addition, as the number of words increases in the texts in Turkish textbooks, it is determined that there is an increase in the number of different words.
