In Line With the Concept of Universal Designairport Evaluation: the Example of Van Ferit Melen Airport

Abstract

İlk insanlardan günümüze kadar süregelen seyahat ihtiyacı sanayi devrimi gelişen teknoloji ile birlikte günümüzde en yoğun olarak kullanılan ulaşım türü olan hava ulaşımı, hız ve konforun bir arada bulunduğu zaman tasarrufunun en üst düzeyde olduğu ulaşım şeklidir. Havalimanları, hava ulaşımının sağlandığı mekanlardır. Bu mekanların tüm kullanıcı grupları için, herhangi bir ayırım gözetmeksizin, kullanılabilir ve erişilebilir olması beklenmektedir. Tamda bu noktada 1980 li yılların sonlarına doğru literatürde yer almaya başlayan; ön sıfattan bağımsız 'insan' kavramını merkeze alan, herhangi bir kitleyi ötekileştirmeyen, herkes için eşit kullanım olanağı sağlamayı hedefleyen evrensel tasarım anlayışı, havalimanlarında kullanıcı beklentilerini daha üst düzeye taşıyabileceğinden bahsetmek mümkündür. Van ilinin coğrafi konumu, turizm potansiyeli, artan nüfusu, komşu ülkelere açılan sınır kapısı olması, gibi özelliklerinden dolayı, bünyesinde barındırdığı stratejik bir yapının, kapsayıcı bir tasarım anlayışı ile incelenmesi bu tezin ana çerçevesini oluşturmuştur.Bu tez, Van Ferit Melen Havalimanı kara tarafı yaya ve araç aksları ile terminal binası yolcu kullanım alanlarının 'Evrensel Tasarım'' ilkelerine uygunluğunun incelenmesi amacıyla hazırlanmıştır.

The need for travel from the first people to the present day, together with the developing technology, air transportation, which is the most used type of transportation today, is the mode of transportation where speed and comfort come together and time savings are at the highest level. Airports are places where air transportation is provided. These spaces are expected to be usable and accessible to all user groups, without any discrimination. Right at this point, it started to take place in the literature towards the end of the 1980s; It is possible to mention that the universal design approach, which focuses on the concept of 'human' independent of the prefix, does not marginalize any audience, and aims to provide equal use for everyone, can raise user expectations at airports. Due to the geographical location of the province of Van, its tourism potential, its increasing population, and the fact that it is a border gate to neighboring countries, the examination of a strategic structure it contains with an inclusive design approach has formed the main frame of this thesis. This thesis has been prepared to determine whether the passenger and vehicle axes of the Van Ferit Melen Airport Terminal Building and the airport landside passenger and vehicle axes comply with the 'Universal Design' principles.
