The Evaluation of High School Students' Tendencies and Opinions Regarding E-Diseases

Abstract

Öz Günümüzün teknoloji temelli dünyasında yaşanan gelişmeler ile birlikte internete erişim olanaklarında ve interneti kullanma süresinde ciddi bir artışın olduğu bilinmektedir. İnternet tabanlı teknolojiler, bireylerin yaşamını kolaylaştırdığı gibi yanlış kullanıma bağlı olarak ortaya çıkan durumlar da yaşamı zorlaştırmaktadır. İnternetin, yaşamı kolaylaştırma amacının dışında kontrolsüz kullanımı dijital araçlara ve bu araçlar kapsamında yer alan uygulamalara bağımlı olmayı ifade eden e-hastalıkları tetiklemektedir. Bu hastalıkların da dijital yerli olarak adlandırılan günümüz gençleri arasında yaygınlığı dikkat çekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı lise öğrencilerinin 'selfitis, cheespodding, photolurking, fomo ve facebook depresyonu' gibi e hastalıklara olan eğilimlerini ve bu hastalıklar hakkında neler bildiklerini tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini Van'ın Çaldıran ilçesine bağlı 3 lisede (Anadolu lisesi, meslek lisesi ve İmam Hatip lisesi) öğrenim gören 480 öğenci oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem seçiminde maksimum örnekleme yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Karma yöntem anlayışına göre yapılan çalışmada nicel veriler e-hastalık Eğilim Belirleme Anketi ile, nitel veriler de yarı yapılandırılmış bir form aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde SPSS 23 paket programı, nitel verilerin analizinde de MAXQDA 24 paket programından yararlanılmıştır. Ulaşılan bulgular genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde; lise öğrencilerinin e-hastalıklara yönelimlerinin yüksek olmadığı ve öğrencilerin e-hastalıklar hakkında genel olarak bilgi sahibi oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Abstract It is known that with the developments in today's technology-based world, there is a significant increase in the possibilities of accessing the internet and the time spent using the internet. While internet-based technologies make life easier for individuals, situations that arise due to misuse also make life difficult. Uncontrolled use of the Internet, apart from its purpose of making life easier, triggers e-diseases, which refer to addiction to digital tools and the applications within these tools. The prevalence of these diseases among today's young people, who are called digital natives, is noteworthy. The aim of this study is to determine high school students' tendencies towards e-diseases such as 'selfitis, cheesepodding, photolurking, fomo and facebook depression' and what they know about these diseases.The sample of the study consists of 480 students studying in 3 high schools (Anatolian high school, vocational high school and Imam Hatip high school) in Çaldıran district of Van. Maximum sampling method was used in sample selection. In the study conducted according to the mixed method approach, quantitative data were collected with the e-disease Trend Determination Survey and qualitative data were collected through a semi-structured form. SPSS 23 package program was used in the analysis of quantitative data, and MAXQDA 24 package program was used in the analysis of qualitative data. When the findings are evaluated in general; It has been determined that high school students are not inclined towards e diseases and that students have general knowledge about e-diseases.
