Abstract
Babesiosis is an important health problem in our country which usually brings on large economic losts in animals. In the present study, the effects of sheep babesiosis on the serum protein fractions were investigated in Van region. In this research, 36 Akkaraman sheep with babesiosis (infected group) between the age of 1.5?2 were used a living material. Infected sheeps were cured to make up infected group (BG). 20 healthy Akkaraman sheep (control group) were used. Serums were seperated from the blood samples taken from vena jugularis and kept in deepfreeze (-20°C) until electrophoretical analysis. The levels of total proteins were determined by Biuret Method and electrophoresis were performed by cellulose acetate technique. The levels of TP (p<0.01) and a2-globulin in BG were determined lower than control group (CG) (p<0.001) that both were increased with treatment. The concentration of albumin in BG and after treated group (TG) was founded higher than the CG (p<0.001). The levels of ?1-globulin in BG were saw higher than the CG (p<0.01) and both were decreased to the normal levels after the treatment. The levels of b-globulin weren?t determined the difference (p>0.05) as statisticaly. The concentration of ?-globulin in BG and after treated group (TG) was founded lower than the CG (p<0.001).The concentration of A/G in BG and after treated group (TG) was founded higher than the CG (p<0.001). The cause of the variation in the blood serum protein fractions of the sheeps with babesiosis is the fast destruction of the proteins according to the degree of hemolysis. Key Words: Albumin, Electrophoresis, Globulin, Protein, Sheep
