An Ecopsychological View of Jack London's the Call of the Wild and White Fang With Cengiz Aytmatov's White Ship and the Dreams of the Female Wolf

Abstract

Takdim edilen çalışmada, Cengiz Aytmatov'un Beyaz Gemi ve Dişi Kurdun Rüyaları romanları ile Jack London'un Vahşetin Çağrısı ve Beyaz Diş romanları ekopsikolojik bir bakış açısıyla incelenmektedir. Seçilen yazar ve eserleri modern edebiyatın gelişen temalarından biri olan ekoeleştiriye ekopsikolojik vurgu yapmaları açısından oldukça önemlidir. Doğa ve edebiyat birbiriyle bağlıdır. Edebiyat doğayı daima kendi gerçekliğinde görür ve bu şekilde ele alır. Eko-eleştirinin yardımıyla, eco-psikoloji eserlerdeki eko-psikolojik temaları ortaya çıkarmaya çalışmaktadır. İnsan ruhunu yaşamın içinde ele aldığında, hisleri hem kişiye özgü hem de genel bir feryat olarak görülmeye başlanabilir. İçinde yaşanılan ortamlar ve bu ortamların birbirleri ile aralarındaki bağlantıları inceleyerek, çatışmanın bir parçası olduğu sistemde çözümler aranır. Ekopsikologlara göre doğa ile dengede yaşama isteği, insanoğlunun duygusal ve zihinsel huzuru için gereklidir. Bu yüzden eko-psikoloji en içten fantezilerimizi ve korkularımızı inceler, yıkıcı çevresel davranışımızın temellerini arayarak bastırılmış endişelerimizi ve depresyonlarımızı araştırır. İşte bu sebeple Jack London ve Cengiz Aytmatov'un eserlerinde büyük ölçüde doğa ve insan ilişkilerini ele almaları oldukça dikkat çekicidir. Sonuç olarak, Cengiz Aytmatov'un Beyaz Gemi ve Dişi Kurdun Rüyaları romanları ile Jack London'un Vahşetin Çağrısı ve Beyaz Diş romanları ekopsikolojik olarak incelenerek genel bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır.

The present study examines Cengiz Aytmatov's White Ship and The Dreams Of The Female Wolf with Jack London's The Call of the Wild and White Fang from an ecopsychological perspective. The selected authors and their works are very important in terms of their ecopsychological emphasis on ecocriticism which is one of the evolving themes of modern literature. Nature and literature are interlinked. Literature always sees nature in its reality and evaluates it in this way. With the help of eco-criticism, eco-psychology tries to reveal eco-psychological themes in the works. When one considers the human spirit within life, its feelings can be seen as both a personal and general wail. By examining the environments in which we live and their connections with each other, solutions are sought for systems that are part of the conflict. According to ecopsychologists, the desire to live in balance with nature is essential for the emotional and mental peace of mankind. That is why eco-psychology examines our most sincere fantasies and fears, looking for the basics of our destructive environmental behavior and investigating our suppressed concerns and depressions. For this reason, it is remarkable that Jack London and Cengiz Aytmatov mostly deal with nature and human relations in their works. As a result, Cengiz Aytmatov's White Ship and The Dreams Of The Female Wolf with Jack London's The Call of the Wild and White Fang have been examined ecopsychologically and given a general assessment.
