Relationship Life and Economics in the Novels of Orhan Pamuk

Abstract

İnsan tutum ve davranışlarının temel güdüleyicisi olarak ekonominin, yaygın düşüncenin aksine, insanların büyük çoğunluğunun, inanç ve düşüncelerinin de ana yönlendiricisi, kişilik ve kimliğinin niteliğinin de belirleyicisi olduğu öne sürülebilir. İnsanı her yönüyle inceleyen romanda bu ilişki biçimi sürekli detaylandırılmasına karşın edebi çalışmalarda göz ardı edilen bir konudur. Farklı disiplinlerin gözlüğünden bakıldığında, sınırsız anlatma olanaklarına sahip roman türünün insanı ele alma perspektifindeki rakipsizlik daha fazla görünürlük kazanır. Türk romanının tek Nobel ödülü yazarı Orhan Pamuk, (1952-) İstanbul orijinli zengin bir ailenin çocuğu olarak, eserlerine bu kentin farklı kesimlerinden olan insanları farklı sorunsallar odağında ele aldığı romanlarında, kurgu sorunları üzerinde de ciddi şekilde düşünen, bu yönüyle dünya romanıyla yakın bağlantılar içine girebilen bir yazardır. Bu çalışma, çoklu bakış açılarına zengin nesnel karşılıklar verebilen yetkinlikteki Orhan Pamuk'un romanlarında, Türk toplumunun, Osmanlı devletinin son dönemlerinden başlayıp günümüze kadar geçirdiği süreçleri ekonomik arka plan üzerinden bir izsürme çabasıdır. Bu tezde insanların sahip olduğu ekonomik statünün; duygu ve düşünce dünyası gibi, gündelik yaşam pratiklerinin de belirleyicisi olduğu öne sürülmekte, yaşamı yönlendiren gerilimlerin de gerisindeki temel güdünün bu olduğu varsayılmaktadır. Bunun geleneksel üretimin egemen olduğu geleneksel toplumdan, tüketim toplumunun var olma gerekçesine dönüştüğü modern topluma kadar sürdüğü, günümüzde ise çılgınlık düzeyine eriştiği gözlemi Pamuk'un romanları üzerinden gözlenmeye çalışılmaktadır. Türk toplumunun farklı mekânlarla sembolize edilen ekonomik ve bununla doğrudan ilişkili ideolojik kamplaşmalarının gerisindeki temel itkinin, ekonomiye sahip olma düzeyiyle yakından ilişkili olduğu öne sürülmektedir. It can be argued that the economy, which is the main inspiration of human attitudes and behaviours, contrary to the common belief, is also the main driver of the majority of people, their beliefs and thoughts, as well as the determinant of the quality of their personality and identity.Although this form of relationship is constantly elaborated in the novel, which examines people in all aspects, it is a subject that is always ignored in literary works.When viewed by different disciplines, the unrivalled perspective of the novel genre with unlimited narrative possibilities becomes more visible. Orhan Pamuk, the only Nobel laureate writer of the Turkish novel, (1952-) and as a child of a rich family of Istanbul origin, is an author who deals with the problems of fiction on his works in his novels focusing on people from different parts of this city in the focus of different problems, and in this respect, closely connected with the world novel. The purpose of this study is to trace the processes that the Turkish society underwent from the last periods of the Ottoman state to the present, in the novels of Orhan Pamuk, who is capable of providing rich objective responses to multiple perspectives.In the study, it is suggested that the economic status of people is the determinant of daily life practices, like the world of emotions and thoughts, and it is alsoassumed that this is the main motive behind the tensions that direct life.thestudytried to analyze through Pamuk's novelsthat this continues from the traditional society dominated by traditional production till the modern society where the consumption society turns into a reason for existence, and today reaching the level of madness.It is argued that the main impulse behind the economic and directly related ideological groupings of the Turkish society, symbolized by different settings, is closely related to the material asset.
