The Evaluation of Some Allegations in Mahmud Abo Reyye's Edwa Ala's-Sunnat Al-Muhammadiyyah

Abstract

Hz. Peygamber'in (s.a.v.) vefatından sonra muhaddisler arasında tartışılan noktalardan birisi, ona nispet edilen söz ve eylemlerin tespiti meselesidir. Bu tartışmaların ortaya çıkmasının bazı sebepleri bulunmaktadır. Hz. Peygamber'in (s.a.v.) İslam'ın ilk yıllarında hadislerin yazımına Kur'an-ı Kerim ayetleriyle karışır endişesiyle müsaade etmemiş olması, Hz. Ömer'in sahabeden hadis cüzlerini yakmalarını istemesi, sonraki süreçlerde İslam toplumu açısından infiale sebep olan bazı olayların yaşanması ve bu olaylar sonucunda mezhepleşmenin de etkisiyle hadis uydurmacılığının baş göstermesi, her hadis müellifinin hadis kabul şartlarının farklı olması dolayısıyla hadis sıhhat derecelerinin de birbirleri ile örtüşmemesi gibi etkenler bu tartışmaların muhtemel sebepleri arasında sayılabilir. Bu etkenlere İslami bir bakış açısıyla, önyargıdan uzak ve inkâr amacından beri bir perspektifle bakıldığında anlaşılacaktır ki aslında hadislerin Hz. Peygamber'e aidiyetle ilgili tartışmalara konu olan neredeyse her faktörün hadislerin özünü korumak amacıyla vukuu bulduğu görülür. Tarihte olduğu gibi modern dönemlerde de hadis ve sünnet olgusuna ön yargılı yaklaşan bazı insanlar olagelmiştir. Bu insanların amaçları hadis ve sünnet ile ilgili meselelerin hakikatini ilmî bir yaklaşımla ortaya koymak değil ideolojik yaklaşımlarına bir zemin aramak ve bu fikirleri diğer insanlara kabul ettirebilmek için manipüle edilmiş argümanlar ileri sürmektir. Bu çalışmada eserini incelemeye tabi tuttuğumuz Mahmud Ebû Reyye de hadis ve sünnete dair birçok iddiayı ilmi bir yaklaşımdan uzak biçimde ele almış, hadis tarihi ile hadis usulü konularının çoğunda sadece kendi perspektifi ile örtüşen argümanlar getirmiştir. Çoğu konuda objektif kalamayan Ebû Reyye klasik İslam düşüncesiyle uyuşmayan birçok fikir beyan etmiştir. İslam âlimlerinin çoğunluğu tarafından kabul görmeyen bu fikirlerin eleştirilmesi ve hadisleri müdafaa etme gayesiyle birçok çalışma yapılmış ve söz konusu çalışmaya bazı reddiyeler yazılmıştır. Bu çalışmada ise Ebû Reyye'nin hadis ilmine taalluk eden bazı iddiaları mercek altına alınmış ve bu iddialar tahlil edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

One of the points of debate among the muhaddiths after the Prophet's (PBUH) death is the issue of identifying the words and deeds attributed to him. There are some reasons for the emergence of these debates. The fact that the Prophet (PBUH) did not allow the writing of hadiths in the early years of Islam for fear that it would interfere with the verses of the Holy Qur'an, and the fact that Prophet Umar asked the Companions to write hadith volumes. The fact that 'Umar asked the Companions to burn the hadith volumes, the occurrence of some events that caused outrage in the Islamic society in the following processes and the emergence of hadith fabrication with the effect of sectarianization as a result of these events, the fact that the conditions of acceptance of hadith by each hadith author are different and therefore the degree of authenticity of hadith does not coincide with each other can be counted among the possible reasons for these discussions. When these factors are examined from an Islamic perspective, free from prejudice and from the aim of denial, it will be understood that almost every factor that has been the subject of debates about the authenticity of hadiths to the Prophet (pbuh) has occurred in order to protect the essence of the hadiths. In modern times, as in history, there have always been some people who are prejudiced against hadith and sunnah. The aim of these people is not to reveal the truth of the issues related to hadith and sunnah with a scholarly approach, but to seek a basis for their ideological approaches and to put forward manipulated arguments in order to make other people accept these ideas. Mahmoud Abū Reyya, whose work we have analyzed in this study, has dealt with many claims about hadith and sunnah in a way that is far from a scholarly approach, and in most of the issues of hadith history and hadith methodology, he has brought arguments that coincide only with his own perspective. Abū Reyya, who could not remain objective on most issues, expressed many ideas that were incompatible with classical Islamic thought. In order to criticize these ideas, which were not accepted by the majority of Islamic scholars, and to defend the hadiths, many studies were conducted and some refutations were written. In this study, some of Abū Reyya's claims regarding the science of hadith are scrutinized and these claims are analyzed.
