İsmail Veli B. Abdullah's Life, Works and His Sufistic Views

Abstract

XIX. y.y'da yaşamış önemli şahsiyetlerden biri olan İsmail Velî, 1207/1793 tarihinde Sudan'ın Kordofan eyaletinin merkez şehirlerinden olan Ubeyyid şehrinde doğmuş, medrese ilimlerine sahip seçkin âlim ve mutasavvıftır. Müellifimizin hayatı hakkında akademik bir çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Amacımız yazdığı eserleri, yetiştirdiği halife-talebeleri ve tasavvufî anlayışı ile kendisinden söz ettirmiş olan fakat hakkında ilmi açıdan detaylı bir akademik çalışma bulunmayan, Nakşibendîliğin Mîrgâniyye (Hatmiyye) koluna bağlı İsmailiyye Tarîkatı'nın kurucusu ve şeyhi olan İsmail Velî'nin hayatı, eserleri, diğer mutasavvıflara benzer görüşleri, İslâm, imân, ihsan ve insan azaları gibi farklı tasavvufî görüşlerini ele alarak akademiye kazandırmaktır. Kendisi Nakşibendî Tarîkatı'nın şeyhlerinden Şeyh Muhammed Osman el-Mîrganî'den (ö.1268/1852) tarîkaticâzeti almıştır. Hapis hayatı dâhil birçok sıkıntı yaşayan İsmail Velî, ilim yayma ve öğrenci yetiştirmede hiçbir zaman geri durmamıştır. İsmail Velî, ömrünü tasavvufa adamış ve onlarca talebe yetiştirerek kendisine intisap edenlerden bazılarına ilmîve tarîkaticâzetlerini vermiştir. Kendisinin yetmişten fazla eseri olması ve bunlardan yirmi altı tanesinin tasavvufa dair olması, onun alandaki yetkinliğini göstermektedir. Bu kapsamda onun tasavvufî görüş ve düşüncelerini ilim dünyasıyla buluşturmak bu çalışmanın temel amaçları arasında yer alır.

İsmail Veli, one of the important personalities who lived in the 19.th century, wasborn in thecity of Ubeyyid, one of thecentralcities of the Kordofanstate of Sudan, in 1207/1793, and he is an eminent scholar and mystic with madrasa sciences. There is noacademic study about life of the author. Our aim is the life of İsmail Veli, the founder and sheikh of the Ismailiyya Sect, affiliated with the Mirganiyye (Hatmiyya) branch of the Naqshbandi Order, who has made a name for himself with the works he wrote, the caliph-students he trainedand his mysticalunder standing, but there is no detailed academic study about him. It is to bring the similar views to those of the Sufis to the Academy by considering different mystical views such as Islam, faith, ihsan and human members. He received a cult confirmation from Sheikh Mohammed Osman al-Mirgani (6.1268/1852) who is one of the sheikhs of the Naqshbandi Order. After entering Sûfîsm, Ismail Veli, who had many problems, including his life in prison, never held back in spreading knowledge and raising students. Ismail Veli devoted himself to the mysticism and trained a lot of students and gave his knowledge and sect licenses to those who followed him. The fact that he has more than seventy Works and this showst hatperfection in the field. In this extent, the main reason of the study is bringing together mystical views and thoughts with the world of science.
