The Determination of Differences in Recitations by Warsh and Qalun (reciters of Imam Nafi') and the Comparison of Them in Terms of Meaning

Abstract

Kıraatler, i'caz için indirilmiş olan Kur'ân-ı Kerim lafızlarının farklı okunuşları olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bundan dolayı, geçmişten bugüne değin kıraatler üzerine çok fazla çalışma yapılmış ve bu konuda eserler ortaya konmuştur. Kıraatler senetlerine göre yedi, on ve on dört kıraat olarak sınıflandırılmaktadır. Kıraat-ı aşere imâmlarının ilki kabul edilen ve Medine kıraat imâmı olan Nâfiʿ bin Abdurrahman'ın kıraati, sahih bir senetle Hz. Peygamber'e (s.a.s) dayanmaktadır. Nâfiʿʿnin en önemli iki râvisi de Verş ve Kâlûn olarak kabul edilmektedir. Biz de öneminden dolayı çalışmamızda Verş ve Kâlûn arasındaki kıraat farklılıklarını ele almaya gayret ettik. Çalışmamız giriş ve üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde Nâfiʿ, Verş ve Kâlûn'un hayatlarını, kıraat eğitimlerini, İmam Nâfi'nin kıraati aldığı silsileyi ele aldık. İkinci bölümde Verş ve Kâlûn arasındaki usul ve ferş kavramlarını açıklayarak bu farklılıkları maddeler halinde açıkladık. Bu bölümde kıraat ilmine has kullanılan kavramları da gerektiğinde hem metin içerisinde hem de dipnotlarda açıkladık. Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise âyetleri kıraat farklılıklarının olduğu kitaplar üzerinden inceledik. Verş ve Kâlûn'un hangi âyeti nasıl okuduğunu ve okuyuş farklılıklarının, âyetlerin manasına ne ölçüde etki ettiğini ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Araştırmamızı hazırlarken mukayese yöntemi ile hem Verş ve Kâlûn'un okuyuşlarını tespit etmeye çalıştık hem de iki râvinin kıraatini, diğer kıraat imamlarının okuyuşları ile mukayese ederek konunun anlaşılır olmasına gayret ettik.

Recitations are accepted as different readings of the words of the Qur'an, which were sent down for i'jaz (inimitability). Therefore, from the past to the present, a great deal of researches has been done on recitation and numerous works on this subject have been written. Recitations are classified as seven, ten, and fourteen according to their leader of the school of Qur'an reciters. The recitation of Nafi' bin Abdurrahman, who is accepted as the first of the imams of recitation and the imam of qira'at in Madina, authentically goes back to Prophet Muhammed (SAW). The two most important reciters of Nafi' are also known as Warsh and Qalun. In our study, we tried to deal with the differences in recitation between Warsh and Qalun. Our study consists of an introduction and three main parts. In the first part, we discussed the lives and the qira'at education of Nafi, Warsh and Qalun and the traces of the riwaya/transmission. In the second part, we mentioned and specified the differences in methods and farsh between Warsh and Qalun. In this part, we also explained the specific concepts of qira'at both in text and footnotes. In the third and the last part, we examined the verses through works written differently in terms of recitations. We tried to reveal how Warsh and Qalun read each verse and to what extent the differences in reading affect the meaning of the verses. In our research, we tried to find out the recitations of Warsh and Qalun applying to the comparison method. In addition, we made an endeavor to make the verses more understandable comparing the qira'at of both reciters with the readings of the other leaders of recitations.
