Sihabuddin Es-Sivasi: His Life and Scientific Personality

Abstract

Sihabuddin al-Sivasi is one of the important and educated figures, lived during the occurence of political, economical and cultural activities in Anadolia. His educational life began in Sivas and ended in Ayaslug -a town ol Izmir-currently-called Selcuk. Sihabuddin es-Sivasi, ignoring the secondary important works such as explanation, re-explanation, partial explanation and abridgement, took his place among the scientists who created their own original works. He wrote works about hadith, interpretation and tasavvuf. Among these works he is famous for the interpretation of the work called "Uyunu't-Tefasir li'l-Fuzala'i's-Semasir". This work, written in the form of a reasonal method, does not have the feature to open a new era, but it has been a source of reference for the interpretational books written after it. Sihabuddin es-Sivasi used a simple language in his interpretation. He also showed utmost care to convey the meanings of the Qur'an has to its readers. Sihabuddin es-Sivasi Anadolu'da yetismis ve Omrunun sonuna kadar hicbir yere gitmeden burada yasamis onemli bir din bilginidir. Onun yasadigi donemde Anadolu, hemen her bakimdan hareketli ve calkantili donemlerinden birini yasamistir. Soz konusu donemde Anadolu'da cesitli savaslar yapilmis, gocler olmus, bir takim fikir akimlari cikmis yeni devletler kurulmus ve bazl beylikler de ortadan kalkmistir. Butun bunla-ra ragmen Anadolu ayakta kalmayi basarmistir. Bu nedenle Sivasi'nin hayati ve ilmi kisiligine gecmeden once, onu daha iyi taniyabilmek icin yasadigi cevre hakkinda kisaca bilgi vermek kanaatimizce faydali olur:
