Abstract
Sins are known to be a series of misdeeds going against the edicts stipulated by Holy Creator that are forbidden to perform in order not to distort the pure nature of man as well as of Islam.A calamity is a disaster that strikes man like a bullet that strikes its target perfectly. It is also a kind of catastrophe and damage that causes a good deal of harm and destruction upon the Earth. The Holy Quran speaks of communities suffering such calamitous disasters as plagues, drought, hunger and famine throughout history. Also, attention is drawn to the fact that similar or even worse disasters befalling man will be inevitable unless good lessons are learned from these parables. Furthermore, we can understand from the Holy Scripture that there appears to be a correlation between sin and calamity.Quran can be observed to build a direct relationship between the sins of man and calamities striking him, which appears to have been called attention to in a good many verses. Holy Creator has created man and bestowed him willpower for him to be able to distinguish between good and evil. There is no doubt that man will be rewarded for every single deed and be punished for every single bad deed, the opposite of which cannot be argued at all. The real place for reward and punishment is not this earthly life. However, the fact that man will be rewarded or punished for his deeds in the Afterlife should not mean that man is absolutely exempt from such treatments in this earthly life. This point has been persistently emphasized in the Holy Scripture, and it can be inferred from various verses that many times man suffers calamities due to his own misdeeds and sins.
