A Thematic Analysis of Birhan Keskin's Poems

Abstract

Birhan Keskin, 1980 sonrası Türk edebiyatında şiirleriyle dikkat çeken isimlerden biridir. İlk şiir kitabı Delilirikler (1991) ve ikinci kitabı Bakarsın Üzgün Dönerim (1994) ile edebiyatta adından söz ettirmeye başlar. İlk şiir kitaplarında bireysel temalar ağırlıktayken; daha sonraki şiir kitaplarında çağımızın problemlerine duyarsız kalmayarak ve insan değerini odak noktasına alarak toplumsal meselelere yönelir. Yaşananları irdelerken metinlerarasılık tekniğine sıkça başvurması da dikkat çeken diğer bir özelliktir. Şiirlerinde acı, üzüntü, yalnızlık, ölüm, yabancılaşma, insan değeri gibi temaları, ironi ve lirizmi birleştirerek anlattır. Yapıtlarında kapalı ve soyut bir anlatıma çok gitmeden imgeler ve çağrışımlar üzerinden işlenen temayı okura verir. Birhan Keskin, şiirlerinde çağrışım ve imgelere yer verirken anlamı göz ardı etmez. Hatta şiirdeki anlam, biçimsel özelliğin önüne geçer. Yer yer cinas, tevriye, istiare gibi söz sanatlarına başvurması, divan edebiyatı nazım biçimleri ile şiirini yazması anlamı yine de geri de bırakmaz. Şairin önceliği sanat yapmak değil, şiirin anlam gücünden okuru yakalamaktır. Bundan dolayı toplumsal meselelerden uzak kalmaz, bireysel meseleleri işlerken de birey üzerinden toplumun nabzını yakalamaya çalışır. Bu doğrultuda temaları belli bir sınıflandırmaya gittiğimizde aslında birçok temanın birbiriyle bağlantılı olduğu, neden-sonuç ilişkisi içerisinde işlendiği görülür. Bu çalışmada şairin yoğun olarak işlediği temalar üzerinde duruldu. Birhan Keskin'in eserleri incelenirken ondaki insana, insanlığa, hayvana, dağa, taşa ve dolayısıyla tabiata karşı duyarlı duruşun şiirdeki yansımalarına değinildi. Bireysel konuların yanı sıra toplumdaki birçok problemi kucaklayabilecek bir şiir anlayışına sahip olan şairin şiirlerinde işlenen aşk, ölüm, kaçış, yabancılaşma, kadın cinayetleri, ezilmiş halk, doğaya bırakılan tahribatlar, ekonomi, insan değeri gibi konuların nasıl ele alındığı tespit edildi.

Birhan Keskin is one of the prominent figures in Turkish literature after 1980 with his poems. His first poetry book, Delilirikler (1991) and his second book, Bakarsın Üzgün Dönerim (1994), began to make their mark in literature. In the first poetry books, individual themes predominate; In his later poetry books, he does not remain insensitive to the problems of our time, but he also focuses on social issues and social themes in his poems. Another feature that draws attention is the fact that he frequently uses the intertextuality technique when examining the events. In his poems he describes themes such as pain, sadness, loneliness, death, alienation, human value, irony and lyricism. In his works, he gives the reader the theme, which is processed through images and associations, without going to a closed and abstract narrative. Birhan Keskin does not ignore the meaning in her poems while incorporating connotations and images. Even the meaning in poetry overcomes the formal feature. The fact that he occasionally uses pun, tevriye, istiara and rhetoric as well as his verse forms of poetry in Divan literature does not leave meaning behind. The priority of the poet is not to make art, but to capture the reader from the meaning power of poetry. Therefore, it does not stay away from social issues, while trying to capture the pulse of society through the individual issues. In this respect, when we go to a certain classification of themes, it is seen that many themes are related to each other and processed in a cause-effect relationship. In our study, the themes that the poet worked intensively were emphasized. Birhan Keskin's works were examined in his poetry reflections of his sensitive attitude towards human, humanity, animal, mountain, stone and nature. The existence of an understanding of poetry that could embrace all the problems in society: the murders of the women, the oppressed people, the devastation to nature, the economy, the image of human values were determined.
