Investigation on Some Biochemical Parameters in Blood and Tissue of the Forced Molt Laying Hens.
Abstract
Apaydın B, Investigation on some biochemical parameters in blood and tissue of the forced molt laying hens. Yüzüncü Yıl University, Health Science Institute, Department of Biochemistry Ph. D Thesis, Van 2009. When the egg production decreased below the economical levels molting is done to laying hens by changing environmental conditions stopping egg production and losing feathes. In this study, 90 weeks old 36 HyLine W36 strain laying hens were chosen as research materials, all were numbered and placed in cages. Randomly selected eight of these chicken was placed a cage as control (K), the other 28 chicken were used for the forced molting program. All hens were weighted. Hens in control groups were slaughtered before the molting program begins, other 8 laying hens were slaughters at the end of molting program named as TSA. The rest of 20 hens were fed for 37 days, weighted and slaughtered when they reached to maximum egg production (80%) as TS. The blood levels of MDA, GSH, catalase, glucose, Ca, P, albumin, globulin, total protein, T3, T4, vitamin C, thyroid and liver tissue levels of MDA and GSH were determined. Histopathological changes of ovarium and thyroid glands were examined. The live body weights, thyroid length and weights were also recorded. The statistical importances of differences between groups of live body weights, thyroid length and weights, glucose, Ca, P, albumin, globulin, TP, T3, T4, vitamin C, catalase, MDA (blood, liver, throid gland), GSH (blood, liver, throid gland), were determined, respectively p<0.001, p<0.001, p?0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.01, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, p?0.05, p<0.001, p?0.05, p<0.001, p<0.01, ÖD. As conclusions, forced molting produces stres and has important side effects. Like changes of oxidant/antioxidant levels organ and tissue weights and sizes, thyroid hormon profiles as increased T4, decreased T3, decreased Ca-P levels, important changes of protein and its fractions, decreased glucose which used for the energy source of the body, changes of tissue and blood antioxidant levels and increased in lipid peroxidation products. Determination of the levels of MDA, GSH and catalase liver and thyroid tissue was the Pioneer for the scientifical literature. However in forced molting resting of reproductive organ, beter egg quality and high egg production are determined as positive effects.
