The Effect of Hanger Cables Connected in Different Shapes on the Behavior of Suspension Bridges
Abstract
In this thesis, it is aimed to investigate the effects of suspension cables connected in different ways on the behavior of suspension bridges and evaluate their results. 6 suspension bridge models were created in the world and in our country by taking the suspension bridges as the suspension cables built in different ways. Based on the results of the modeled suspension bridges, 10 suspension bridges were modeled by changing the number and diameter of the suspension cables. Three-dimensional nonlinear analyzes of 16 suspended bridges modeled in total were performed. The results of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, 15 July Martyrs Bridge, Osmangazi Bridge, Humber Bridge, Tsing Ma Bridge and Yeoungjong bridges modeled in three dimensions were evaluated. FSM_40A, FSM_50A, FSM_60A, FSM_70A and FSM_80A models were modeled in three dimensions by changing the number of hangers in the middle span, taking into account the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. FSM_50Ç, FSM_100Ç, FSM_150Ç, FSM_200Ç, FSM_250Ç models were modeled in three dimensions by changing the diameters of the suspension cables in the middle span. Three-dimensional nonlinear static and modal analysis results were evaluated separately for all models. As a result, it has been seen that the connection type and diameter change of the suspension cable has an effect on the behavior of the suspension bridges.
