The Misconceptions of the Second Grade Students About the Triangles and Geometric Objects

Abstract

Bu çalışmada ilköğretim II. kademe öğrencilerinde üçgenler ve geometrik cisimler konusundaki kavram yanılgıları üzerinde durulmuştur.Araştırma, 2010?2011 eğitim ? öğretim yılında Van merkezdeki özel bir okulda ve Van'ın Özalp ilçesindeki ilköğretim okullarında okuyan toplam 225 öğrenciye sınıf ortamında 20 soru içeren test uygulaması ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlköğretim 2. kademe öğrencilerinin üçgenler ve geometrik cisimler konuları hakkındaki eksik ve yanlış öğrenmeleri ile kavram yanılgılarını tespit etmek amacıyla hazırlanan test, Özel Çınar ilköğretim okulu, Sağmalı ilköğretim okulu ve Karasu ilköğretim okulu öğrencilerine uygulanmıştır.Sorular alt problemlere göre ele alınmış, SPSS (Statistical Package For the Social Science) ve Excel programları kullanılarak yüzde ve frekanslarına bakılmıştır. Ayrıca öğrenciler üst, orta ve alt grup olmak üzere üç farklı gruba ayrılarak, grupların hata ve kavram yanılgıları tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre öğrencilerin üçgenler ve geometrik cisimler ile ilgili birçok hata ve kavram yanılgılarına sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Tespit edilen bu hata ve kavram yanılgıları ile ilgili bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

In this research it was focused on the misconceptions of the second grade students about the triangles and geometrical objects.The research at the 2010-2011 academic year, was performed to 225 students from a private school in Van and two public schools in Özalp, a town of Van, as a test including 20 questions. The test, prepared to determine the incomplete and incorrect learning of the secondary grade students was applied to the students from private Çınar primary school, Karasu primary school and Sağmalı primary school.The questions were discussed by sub-problems. Percentage and frequencies were measured by using Excel programmes and SPSS (Statistical Package For the Social Science). The misconceptions and errors of the groups were detected by dividing the students into upper, middle and lower groups. According to the results of study it was determined that the students had lots of misconceptions and mistakes about the triangles and geometrical objects. It was made proposal about those misconceptions and mistakes.
