Examining of Music Text Books Used Between 2000-2020 in Terms of Gender Equality

Abstract

Bu çalışma, 2000-2020 yılları arasında İlköğretim ikinci kademede kullanılan 22 adet müzik ders kitabında yer alan eserlerin; aile içi iş bölümü, kadın ve erkeğin kamusal-özel alanda gösterilme durumları, kadın ve erkeğe yüklenen roller ve fiziksel özellikler çerçevesinde, toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğini belirlemek amacıyla içerik analizi yöntemi ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmada yer alan müzik ders kitaplarının 5. sınıf seviyesinde 38 eser, 6.sınıf seviyesinde 61 eser, 7. sınıf seviyesinde 72 eser, 8.sınıf seviyesinde 78 eser incelenmiştir. Ders kitaplarında yer alan eserlerde erkek, Çamlıca yolunda, Çorum'a giderken, yolda, dağları aşan; çoban, asker, ağa, paşa, baba, efe olarak gösterilmiş; kişilik özellikleri olarak seven, sinirli, beklenen, meydan okuyan, kahraman, benzersiz, kıvanç veren, iyi, mert, namert, şiddet gösteren, büyük, cesur, kendini beğenen, kadını öpmek isteyen, aslan olarak anılmıştır. Uzun boylu, gür sesli fiziksel özellikleriyle de eserlerde öne çıkmaktadır. Kadın ise evde, pazarda, yaylada, suya giden; tohum eken, yemek yapan, misafir ağırlayan, çocuk bakan, uyuyan, gelin, gezen, anne, doğuran, un eleyen, erkeğe hizmet eden olarak anılmaktadır. Kişisel özellikler olarak cesaretli, zor istekleri olan, ağlayan, beklenilen, işveli, alınan, kaçırılan, eğlendiren, oynayan, ilgisiz, hayırsız, beddua eden, beceriksiz, yanlış yola giden, zavallı, ihanet eden, nazik, ocak söndüren, başa bela olarak gösterilmiştir. Erkeklere oranla kadının fiziksel özelliklerine çok fazla vurgu yapıldığı görülmüştür. Kadının sıklıkla, boyu, saçı, beli, gözü, boynu, eli, dişi ve dudaklarından söz edilmiş; taze, öpücükleri derde şifa, öpülmek istenen, güzel, güvercine, kelebeğe, geyiğe benzeyen olarak anılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, cinsiyetlere yüklenen özelliklerin ders kitaplarına ve sınıf seviyelerine göre farklılık gösterdiği, kadının fiziksel özelliklerine erkeklerden daha çok atıf yapıldığı ve belirlenmiş toplumsal kalıp rollerin bütün seviyelerde önemli ölçüde vurgulandığı görülmüştür. The main purpose of this study is to determine gender equality by examining the works dealt with in 22 textbooks of music lesson for secondary school education in terms of the division of labor within the family, the representation of women and men in the public-private sphere, and personality traits within the framework of the roles attributed to women and men. For this purpose, the works in textbooks for the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades of primary education between the years 2000-2020 were analyzed through content analysis method. In the study group, 38 works at the 5th grade level, 61 works at the 6th grade level, 72 works at the 7th grade level and 78 at the 8th grade level of the textbooks of music lesson were examined. In these works, men are shown as follows; On the way to Camlica Province, While Travelling to Çorum Province, on the way, crossing the mountains; shepherd, soldier, agha, pasha, father, Efe. In terms of their personality traits, they are also known as loving, angry, expected, challenging, heroic, unique, proud, good, brave, craven, violent, big, brave, self-conceited, wanting to kiss a woman, and a lion. On the other hand, physical features such as tall and loud are also mentioned in the works. Women are mentioned as follows; at home, at market, at plateau, going to carry water, planting seeds, cooking, hosting guests, caring for children, sleeping, bride, traveling, mother, giving birth, sifting flour, and serving men. Personal characteristics are also shown as follows; courageous, demanding, crying, expected, lustful, taken, kidnapped, amusing, playing, indifferent, no good, cursing, incompetent, misguided, poor, betraying, kind, heartbreaking, troublesome. It has been observed that more emphasis is placed on the physical characteristics of women compared to men. The height, hair, waist, eyes, neck, hands, teeth, and lips of women are frequently mentioned and described as follows; fresh, his kisses are healing in trouble, desired to be kissed, beautiful, resembling a pigeon, butterfly, and deer. According to the results, it has been seen that the characteristics attributed to the genders differ according to the textbooks and grade levels, the physical characteristics of women are more cited than those of men, and the determined social stereotypical roles are emphasized significantly at all levels.
