Henry James ve Edith Wharton'da Elit Amerikalının Karmaşık Psikolojisi
Abstract
Bu tez Henry James'in Daisy Miller, The Portrait Of a Lady ve The American ve Edith Wharton'nın Age of Innocence, Ethan Frome ve The Reef kitaplarındaki ana karakterlerin çatışması çalışmasıdır.
This thesis is a study of conflict considered through the main characters in Henry James? The American, The Bostains, Daisy Miller and The Portrait Of A Lady and Edith Wharton?s Age of Innocence, Ethan Frome and The Reef. In each novel the main characters have complicated moods for their lives. The aim of this study is to show how people who consider themselves free from the conventions of their society are in fact the slaves of their own thoughts and feelings. Henry James and Edith Wharton were the leader of psychological novel, they studied the human beings intensely and understood them deeply. They slow up the time factor in their novels so that the reader can sense every detail in a conversation or a character?s action. In those novels they show what happens when two characters from different cultures come together.
