Performance Evaluation Studies in Businesses: Effects on Employees
Abstract
Performans değerlendirme çalışmaları işletmelerde süreklilik ve örgütsel başarı açısından gerekli ve önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bilindiği gibi işletmelerin birincil amacı kâr elde etmek ve sürekliliği sağlamaktır. Belirlenen bu hedefe ulaşmada örgütsel yapıların oluşması, oluşan bu yapı temelinde çalışanın verimliliğinin sağlanması, bireyin bilgi, beceri ve tecrübesinden yararlanabilmek için performans değerlendirme ölçeklerine ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. İşletmeler ve çalışanlar açısından, günümüz gelişen toplumlarda öğütlerin başarısının ölçülmesi kaçınılmaz olmuştur. Bu çalışma, işletmelerin hedeflerine ulaşmada uyguladıkları performans değerleme uygulamalarının, çalışanların iş tatmini üzerindeki etkisini ele almaktadır. İşletmelerin yaşam sürelerini uzatmada maliyetlerini minimum seviyeye, kârlarının ise maksimize edilmesi büyük önem taşıdığı gibi, çalışanın da kurumdan farklı beklentileri oluşmaktadır. Bu beklentiler öncelik sırasına göre ücret, terfi vs.dir. Örgütsel yapılarda performans değerlendirme ölçekleri bu doğrultuda oluşturulur. Bu değerlendirme çalışmaları göstermiştir ki, çalışanlarda ki beklenti sadece ücret değildir. Birey için statü, saygınlık ve terfi de önem kazanmaktadır. Uygulama Van ilinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Van ilinde hizmet veren enerji sektörlerinin mevcut durumları ortaya koyacak şekilde oluşturulmuştur. İlk bölümde kavramsal çerçeve ile ilgili kavramlar açıklanırken, ikinci bölümde performans değerlendirmenin, çalışanlar üzerinde iş tatmini ile ilgili literatür, anket çalışmaları ve uygulama ölçekleri ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda performans değerleme ve iş tatmini değişkenlerinin çalışanların yaş, eğitim seviyeleri ve mesleki tecrübelerinin göre anlamlı farklılıklar gösterdikleri ve performans değerlemenin de iş tatmini üzerinde anlamlı pozitif bir etkisinin olduğu anlaşılmıştır.
Performance evaluation studies have a necessary and important place in businesses in terms of continuity and organizational success. As it is known, the primary purpose of businesses is to make profits and ensure continuity. In order to achieve this determined goal, performance evaluation scales were needed to form organizational structures, ensure employee productivity on the basis of this structure, and benefit from the individual's knowledge, skills and experience. For businesses and employees, measuring the success of advice has become inevitable in today's developing societies. This study examines the impact of performance appraisal practices implemented by businesses in achieving their goals on employees' job satisfaction. While minimizing costs and maximizing profits is of great importance in extending the lifespan of businesses, employees also have different expectations from the institution. These expectations are salary, promotion, etc. in order of priority. Performance evaluation scales in organizational structures are created accordingly. These evaluation studies have shown that employees' expectations are not just about wages. Status, prestige and promotion also become important for the individual. The application was carried out in Van province. It was created to reveal the current situation of the energy sectors serving in the province of Van. While the concepts related to the conceptual framework are explained in the first section, the literature, survey studies and application scales regarding performance evaluation and job satisfaction on employees are discussed. As a result of the study, it was understood that performance evaluation and job satisfaction variables showed significant differences according to the age, education level and professional experience of the employees, and that performance evaluation had a significant positive effect on job satisfaction.
