Morphological and Taxonomical Investigations on Spathid Ciliates (Protista, Ciliophora, Haptoria) in Soils of Van Castle Wetlands

Abstract

Bu çalışma 2008?2011 yılları arasında Van Kalesi sulak alan topraklarından alınan örneklerde bulunan spathid silliyatlar üzerinde gerçekleştirildi. Toprak örneklerinin fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri belirlendi. Siliyatların ayrıntılı sitolojik yapıları çeşitli yöntemler kullanılarak morfolojik ve morfometrik özellikleri belirlendi. Elde edilen bulgular orijinal tanım ve literatürde mevcut tanımlarla karşılaştırılarak benzerlik ve farklılıklar tartışıldı.Van Kalesi sulak alanlarındaki toprak örneklerinde Arcuospathidiidae ve Spathidiidae familaylarına ait iki siliyat türü gözlendi. Arcuospathidium muscorum muscorum 69?105 x 24?36 µm boyutlarında ve 12?16 somatik kinetiye, uzun kıvrık, nadiren parçalı makronükleusa sahiptir. Spathidium spathula 80?135 x 18?38 µm boyunda, 15?26 somatik sil sırasına sahiptir. Makronükleus kıvrık sicim biçimli, bazı bireylerde 4 parçalıdır. A. muscorum muscorum ve S. spathula'nın genel özellikleri literatür bilgisi ile uyumludur. Belirlenen farkılıkların lokaliteden kaynaklanabileceği düşünülmektedir.

The present study was carried out on the spathid ciliates collected from soils samples in Van Castle wetlands between 2008 and 2011. Physical and chemical parameters of the soil samples were determined. The detailed cytological structures of ciliates were investigated via various techniques and the morphological and morphometric characters were determined. The obtained data were compared with the available original literature descriptions, and the differences and similarity were discussed.Two ciliates species belonging to the Arcuospathidiidae and Spathidiidae families were observed in soil samples collected from Van Castle wetlands. Arcuospathidium muscorum muscorum is in the dimensions of 69?105 x 24?36 µm and has 12?16 µm somatik kineties; long, curly, rarely in pieces macronucleus. Spathidium spathula is in the dimensions of 80?135 x 18?38 µm has 15?26 somatik kineties. The macronucleus is in twisted rope shaped, in some individuals in 4 pieces. The general characteristics of A. muscorum muscorum and S.spathula are compatible with the literature. The differences might be due to different locality.
