Abstract
The morphology and morphogenesis of the haptorid ciliate Fuscheria nodosa Foissner(5), collected from the water-sediment interface of the artificial pond (Van, Turkey), have been described. Its morphology, infraciliature and silverline system were studied from living and silver-impregnated specimens. Biometrical characterizations of the living and fixed cells were also made, and our data compared with results obtained from previous works. Morphogenetic processes during division in Fuscheria nodosa are described after impregnation method. The pattern of its morphogenetic events resembles the other haptorid populations described previously. Morphogenesis commences with a proliferation of kinetosomes in kineties bearing dorsal brush.
