dc.description.abstract Natural disasters have caused physical, economic, social and environmental problems at Van province. Just during the period between 2019 and 2022, many natural disasters have occurred by earthquakes, floods, landslides, avalanches and rockfalls. Many regional factors effect the rockfall, which is a natural disaster. Rockfall is a natural disaster affected by many regional factors, including geology, geomorphology, climatology, earthquake and vegetation of the region. Generally, only one of these parameters is effective, but there are events in which each of them affects at different rates. Also, unconscious and unplanned urbanization due to human mobility and population growth also causes an increase in disaster risks. In order to reduce disaster risks and increase the level of resilience of the society and the living environment, sensitive areas that harbor danger should be clearly revealed. In this context, rockfall sensitivity within the borders of Van Province has been revealed by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Rockfall susceptibility map, which is GIS-based data, will also form the basis for hazard and risk assessments. © 2022, Ankara University. All rights reserved. en_US
