dc.description.abstract Introduction: We aimed to investigate the relationship between HbA1c and various factors that affect the adaptation of the patients to the treatment in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Material and methods: The method was based on semi-structured questionnaires. A total of 458 patients diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus was selected by simple random sampling method. Data assessment for independent samples was performed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Chi-Square test. Correlation analyses were carried out by the Spearman correlation analysis and Pearson correlation analysis. Results: The mean HbA1c (9.28 +/- 1.88) was found to be significantly high in married individuals who say that they feel uncomfortable for being warned related to treatment by their partners (p<0.001). It was found that the rate of blaming themselves, their families, their partners or other people was significantly high in females, compared to the males when they have difficulty in adaptation to diet (%34.7; p=0.012), exercise(%30.6; p=0.003) or drug therapy (%12.9; p<0.001). Conclusion: It is necessary to evaluate the diabetic individuals multidiciplinary. In the struggle of the individual which began with the diagnosis of diabetes, evaluation of the emotional reactions that they could experience in addition to considering physical problems could increase the adaptation to the disease and treatment. en_US
